  1. Hurt, care not known

The product, in the report: Europa Baby Geneva 4-in-1 Convertible Classic Crib Collection White - LJO052

I ordered a Europe Geneva crib in white for my daughter through Amazon.com. It arrived about a week later. The large box was brought to my door and I placed it inside my living room. The box smelled really bad, like something toxic. I placed the box behind the couch to get it out of the way from my children. The next day my husband and I opened it and it continued to smell really bad. We brought the pieces upstairs to the room to where we wanted it. I cleaned each piece thinking I could “wash” the smell away; that didn’t work. During the time it took my husband to put it together, he had to keep leaving the room, and at one point had to lay down because he was dizzy, nauseous, and light headed. The smell was not getting any better and now dissipating in the bedroom. We had to have my daughter sleep in another room and not in her new crib and open the windows (and it was not warm outside, it was rather cold and rainy) to prevent the odor from permeating the room. When we got close to the crib, it still smelled like toxic fumes. I called Amazon and they said to take it apart, and they would pick it up and send us another one. When the replacement crib arrived, the box had that same smell. I opened a corner of the box and the toxic smell again permeated the room. I immediately closed up the box and called to have it picked up. This is inexcusable and I feel like the safety of my daughter and my family were at risk!
