The product, in the report: Summer Infant Soothing Baby Spa & Shower - basically a baby bath with a battery-operated pump.
Summer Infant “Summer Soothing spa and shower baby bath”
On third use, water seems to have infiltrated the pump housing and caused some kind of electrical arc, which created enough pressure to blast the lid off of the battery compartment and cover the device in some kind of black sludge. It was enough pressure to mark the ceiling where the compartment lid hit.
The pump continued to run even after this event. Thankfully it didn’t shock my newborn son. It hurt the heck out of my ear, though. I’ve got a video and pictures of the failed pump if they’re useful.
