The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Simmons kids Slumbertime Monterey 4 in 1 crib. Grows with child. Turns into day bed, toddler bed, etc. sold at target for $300.

About 30 minutes after we put together our brand new Simmons 4 in 1 crib, we laid our son down to sleep in it the first night. Our son is 8 months old and 20 pounds. Not 25 minutes later we hear bloodcurdling screams coming from his room. His leg was stuck in between the slats all the way up his thigh, and he had rolled over. We thought it was broken or dislocated. It took over ten minutes to dislodge his leg. It took four people to get him out, and it got to the point that I was considering cutting his leg out with a saw. The slats/rails on this crib are spaced too close together. I’ve seen reports of up to 21 month old babies getting their legs stuck. That’s almost two year olds! My son’s leg was red for hours and sensitive to touch.

The product, in the report: Simmons Belmont all in one convertible crib and rail

My daughter in law put my grandson in his crib while she ran outside to move vehicles. When she came back in he was screaming a blood curdling scream which she’s never heard before. She rushed to the nursery and he had flipped from his back to his belly and his leg got caught between two slats in a diagonal manner.

The product, in the report: Crib

Caller stated that her 18 month old grandchild legs were both entrapped between the crib slat all the way to the knees. Her legs were removed after much difficulty of twisting and turning. She received minor injuries such as redness and bruising. Child’s weight is 25 lbs. No medical attention was received.

5/19/14 The manufacturer was contacted and she was informed that she should purchase a mesh to place around the bottom of the slats.

Caller feels that the crib slats are unsafe and should be reported.

The product, in the report: The product is a Simmons Crib. I am unsure of the model as the model number is worn too much off the sticker. It is a darker brown. The ends (what would be the headboards) are rounded. It is a drop down crib. The exact company name is “Simmons Juvenile Co. Inc.

Today my 11 month year old daughter got her leg stuck in between the slots in the crib. Her leg was stuck up past her knee to her upper thigh. She was screaming and crying , at first I tried to just pull her out but it only made her more upset. I applied [REDACTED] on her leg and had to slowly pry her out a little at a time. After finally removing her leg from the crib her thigh, knee and upper leg were red and swollen. She was still upset and had a hard time calming down. It was very frightening to both of us.

Simmons Crib Model # 225070. My 3 year old son tried to climb in crib while ‘drop down side” of crib was in down position. “Drop down side” broke away from crib when plastic attaching it to crib broke causing my son to fall on floor with “drop down side” of crib landing on top of him.
