The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Crib rail

Caller stated that her 11 month old child was able to chew on the crib and bite off a chunk of wood. The child choked on the object and eventually regurgitated. No medical attention was received. (6/2/14) The retailer was contacted and they advised her that the crib was unsafe for her child and they are willing to replace it. (6/4/14) She contacted the manufacturer and was informed that they are not responsible for the child chewing on the crib and that it was not under warranty, she was also advised that she could purchase another rail. Approximately 5 months ago she had notice teeth marks on the rail but was unaware that the child was able to penetrate the wood with teeth, knowing that he had just started teething.

Caller is concerned that this crib is a choking hazard to children and that the manufacturer should be held responsible to recall the product.

This is in reference to report No. 20140604-D54D8-1406592 that we received on 6/14/14. Attached is a signed copy of the report and multiple photos of the damage an eleven month old child did to his crib. Since this report was created, the Target store that we were dealing with said to return it to them and they would replace the crib. On June 7th, we disassemble the crib and took it back to the store where we were then told by another “manager” that they could not accept it because “we do not carry it at Target. I’ve never heard of a stork craft. It’s up to the manufacturer”, she said. During the initial contact, it was explained several times that it was bought online at TARGET.COM. This means we still possess the crib that we cannot use safely.

There are several photos showing the splinters that our child vomited when he choked. We had to shrink the size of these photos to email them. If you need a higher quality photo just reply with the Image number and we will send the original file.
