The product, in the report: full size wooden crib
The consumer was about to place her 10 month old, 28” tall, 17 lbs., baby in the crib when she discovered that it was broken. While placing the child down, she found that the mattress was sagging and she stopped the use of the crib.
The wooden frame that surround the mattress (not the mattress support bars) cracked completely in half. The consumer is not sure how the frame broke. The child was not injured.
(5/30/11) The consumer sent the manufacturer and e-mail describing the incident. (5/31/11) The consumer received an e-mail back from the manufacturer and their rep. indicated that they would replace the mattress base. The e-mail stated that they would get the part to the consumer “right away”.
NOTE: The consumer said that she had placed her child in the crib in a lying position; the child would have been alright. However, if her child was bigger and or more active, this may have created a situation when an incident could occur with the crib.
