The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

The product, in the report: Model 0303G00 Jardin Crib

WE WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL, which led to a serious incident in 2012, and are BEING REFUSED COMPENSATION. MY neice also used this crib that could have injured her as well.

My toddler son was using the crib (model 0303G00) throughout the years 2011-2012 until a frightening incident occured. He started screaming in the middle of the night and we immediately knew this was a scream of pain and fear. Upon entering his room, my husband and I noticed that a side slat had cracked in half and splintered inside his leg. We had to cut the wooden slat away from the top and bottom pieces before releasing his leg.

We were already disappointed in the quality of material compared to the $300 price but this incident marked the end of our Jardin crib use.

What can we do to receive necessary compensation?

I noticed my daughter’s crib seemed loose at the top. When I tried to tighten the bolt it would not tighten. I tried taking the bolt out and the entire inner threading came out as well.

The product, in the report: Jardine Baby Madison 4 in 1 Crib

My 6 month old is constantly getting his legs stuck between the slats, which wasn’t really the end of the world, just left bruising. But then we noticed the slats are becoming loose, and bend easy when he pushed on them, which is worrisome after the recalls on other similar cribs, but the worst incident happened the other day, he hit his head on the “headboard” which has a sharp edge along the middle, and cut his head. He did not need stitches, but it was still scary.

The product, in the report: Drop Side Crib

The consumer says that the company is willing to offer the repair kit but her issue is that she has broken slats. The consumer says that the company is not willing to replace the broken slats because they no longer have the hardware for it.

The consumer does not know what to do next. The slats have been broken for sometime. When her child got old enough to stand that she bit a chunk of the wood off the rail. She says the wood is very soft and of poor texture that her child can bite off a piece of it. Her model is under recall (Release # 10-275).

The product, in the report: Berkley - Single Crib Model BC-110C Drop-side Crib

Jardine Baby - Berkley Single Crib BC-110C My 3 year old son was able to kick two spindles right out of the drop gate and break them. My opinion is that an inferior material was chosen for the spindle bars. A post-event analysis indicates that the spindles are made of a low density particle board. The particle board spindles appear to have been attached to the drop gate frame with small wooden dowels, which were seated in (presumably) pre-drilled holes on both the frame and the spindle.

The dowel/frame transition creates a sudden step-wise reduction in the cross-sectional area of the spindle. This reduction in area creates an opportunity for a stress concentration. Given that particle board is about 8 times weaker in shear than in tension, these factors combined create a higher likelihood of failure of the spindle member, even under modest adverse loading conditions.

The following design alternatives are suggested: 1) Change the spindle material to a fibrous, higher strength wood product, such as birch or pine. 2) Taper the ends of spindles, so that each end terminates in a round cross-section that transitions to a square cross-section at some point along the axis of the spindle. This will serve to ease the transition between cross-sections, reducing the severity of the associated stress concentration.

The product, in the report: Jardine 2-1 walnut convertible crib JA2614RC

I received a replacement crib from Jardine JA2614RC for my lifetime crib 0303G00 and upon taking it out of the box, found a huge crack at the top on one of the sides that is coming from a screw. I didn’t even start to put the crib together, I’m sure the wood would break off or splinter even more if I tried to put it together and this makes it very unsafe. I want a safe crib for my child and not from this company.

The product, in the report: Jardine Model # DV601B4- Windsor Lifetime Crib (Dark Pine)

My nephew who is 13months old has gotten his legs caught between crib slats a few different times. His leg has been caught above his knee. His knee itself is preventing his leg coming out of the crib slats. This has happen while he was sleeping and while he was awake. This has happened to one leg and both legs at a time. The only way to get his knee out is to try and twist his leg. His right leg was caught so bad the first time we almost had to break the wood slats to release him. This has caused major bruises.

The product, in the report: convertible crib made by Jardine

We own the Jardine Olympia crib model DA715BC. This crib was not part of the recall because it was manufactured in 4/2007, and according to their website only cribs manufactured before 1/2007 are part of the recall.

The attachment arm which attaches the mattress spring to the crib frame broke off which caused one corned of the crib mattress to collapse. Luckily my child was not injured, however the crib is no longer usable.

The product, in the report: Jardine Fixed Sided Crib

The consumer stated that her 13 month old grandchild consistently gets themselves caught in the slats of their full sized stationery crib. Usually when the child leg gets the stuck the consumer daughter in law will hear the child cry and remove the child’s leg from the slat. The consumer stated that last month her daughter in law had to call a neighbor to use oil to get the infant’s leg out of the slats. This has happened on 3 occasions. This occurred twice in August and in May. They only had to use the oil once in August.

On the last occasion, her grandchild’s right knee was caught in a fashion that was difficult for the consumer to remove but the child was not injured. The consumer did not call the ambulance to get her child leg from the slat at any time. The consumer has yet to call the off to make them aware of the entrapment hazard. The child sustained bruises on each occasion. The consumer has not called the retailer or the firm.

The consumer’s grandchild weighs 20 pounds roughly. The child does not have any scratches. The crib has no signs of structural damage. The crib has not damaged the consumer’s home. The crib has a coil mattress. The consumer did not take her child to the doctor. The consumer was informed by an employee of the CPSC to call to register a report. The consumer has seen numerous recalls by this for other cribs no including this one in particular. Ordinarily, when the child gets his leg caught the consumer is alone in their crib.

The product, in the report: Jardine Olympia 0102B00 crib in natural color

I just learned of the recall on my baby crib. I have the Jardine Olympia 0102B00 crib and well it broke just before my 2nd baby was born last summer. The drop side hardware pieces shattered and fell off. I tried to glue it several times but ultimately the drop side is loose. My baby is sleeping in it as I type but now I plan to file a claim and hopefully get a new crib.

The product, in the report: Jardine Enterprises JA2614RC. Labeled beneath as Dorel Asia SRL WM2614. Crib is a dark walnut or cherry color, basic 2 in 1 fixed side crib.

I owned a recalled Jardine crib (model BC 010) which I submitted a request online for a replacement remedy. I promptly received a cheap replacement crib (model JA2614RC) which we used a few months. Upon disassembly I noticed something sticking out from underneath the large manufacturer’s label, so I peeled it back and discovered a Dorel Asia label for a crib model WM2614. After doing my research I learned that the underneath original crib label was for a recalled crib (recalled both for the drop side and for the slats breaking). So I am furious now to have realized that my unsafe baby crib was replaced with another unsafe crib with a ficticious label put over it to conceal it’s true make. This doesnt seem legal?!?!!!
