  1. No one hurt

Made Oct 9, 2013, sent to the company Oct 24, 2013, published by CPSC Nov 7, 2013

The product, in the report: Storkcraft Convertible Crib Model # 04588-478 Heather Stages Crib-Honey Date: July 2005 Made in China Stork Craft MFG. INC 11511 No. 5 Road Richmond, B.C. Canada V7A 4E8

I called Storkcraft manufacturing to report an issue I was having with my crib. I bought this crib in 2006 for my step-son and this was used approximately 1 year. This is a convertible crib, so usage for 1 year should not warrant the crib encountering problems. I recently put this crib back together for my 1-year-old and noticed immediately the base of the crib was bowing. This crib is also a drop side and I figured I could call for both issues at the same time. When I spoke to the woman, she said the crib should have a piece to go across the bottom and support the base. There is neither this piece she is speaking of or a place for this piece to screw in. She said I would have to purchase this part and pay for shipping because I had not done this within the warranty period which is one year. How could this be a warranty issue, if this never came with the crib in the first place? Also, she refused to send the parts for the drop side because the crib was not in “safe working order”. I tried to speak to a supervisor regarding this issue and was told it was company policy to not allow customers to speak to supervisors over the phone. This crib is obviously unsafe and the problem of the manufacturer, but they refuse to fix it because it was manufactured in 2005. I understand this is several years, but if it is a convertible crib and could be used for many years, two is not a lot and should be the responsibility of the manufacturer to fix or at least care about the safety.

The product, in the report: model number 04588-478 Heather stages crib full size drop side crib

I have a heather stages crib in honey. Model number 04588-478 This is a crib with drop side rails.. Many times my daughter would wake up at night screaming because her leg would get stuck. I can no longer put her to sleep in her crib because of her leg getting stuck. I have tried to purchase many different crib bumpers to avoid this situation, but her leg always pushes through. she complained of leg pain. This crib is very unsafe also on the dropside rail there is a screw that loosens i have tightend it many times when it loosend she almost fell over when one side of the crib came down. This can also become a choking hazard if the nail fell into the crib. I dont know why i have to tighten the screw so many times.. This product should be recalled for the many hazardous things.

    This crib was manufactured in April 2007 part# 20405-024 Model # 04588-478
