The product, in the report: This is a Graco Rory convertible crib in Expresso finish.
I laid my 9 month old baby down in his crib for a nap. He woke up and reached his arm through one of the slats. The way the crib is designed, the gap where the end rails meet the front rails, the gap is wider at the top and then narrows down. He slid his arm down and became trapped. I believe this to be a design flaw that has been overlooked by the manufacturer, creating an unsafe environment for a young child. I have contacted the manufacturer and they keep telling me that a child, particularly one of that age, should never be left unattended. For that purpose I have a audio/visual monitor pointed directly at his crib. They don’t seem to have any concern, so this is the next step for me.

The product, in the report: White Graco Ashland Classic Baby Crib
I purchased a crib in July 2016 for my grandson whom was 6 months old (Graco Ashland Classic Crib) First off we found him with white paint chips in his mouth, second off he was standing up holding on to the in side of his crib which has the mesh bumper pads and he got his leg stuck in between the rails, my husband had to actually turn the baby side ways to get his leg out of the rail and then it left a large welt on the top of his leg. Not a happy CRIB owner !!

The product, in the report: White baby crib. Lajobi Inc. 257 Prospect Plains Rd Ste A Cranberry, N.J. 08512-9975 Model Name: Benton Convertible Crib Model Number: 0500224
The product is a baby crib used for sleeping. We first had a bumper pad in the crib, however, we removed it due to possible suffocation. After removing the bumper pad, my baby’s legs started getting stuck. At first it was not too bad. This morning her leg got stuck so bad that I truly thought my husband was going to have to get his saw to free my daughter. My daughter had a large red mark and impression in her leg from where it got stuck. She proceded to cry for approximately 5 minutes after being freed from the bed. I have looked into recalls, there aren’t any. I contacted Graco who’s name is on the crib. They said the bed is made by another company that is no longer in business and they can’t help me. The crib was made by Lajobi, Inc. Model name: Benton Convertible Crib Model Number: 0500224

The product, in the report: Graco infant crib “Harbor Lights” model. White in color. Actively sold on Wayfair and [REDACTED]. Original purchase on Wayfair in March 2015.
I own the Graco Harbor Lights crib. On 6/30/16, the back of my 11 month old child’s head became wedged in the corner of the crib, between the wooden slats (the side and back slats). I believe this is a serious design flaw with the crib that could result is serious injury. My child was positioned on her back and her head was pinned in a way that forced her chin to her chest, which I know is a dangerous position that can cause babies to suffocate. The pressure of being “stuck” also created large indentations on the sides of her head and took hours to normalize. Please call me anytime at [REDACTED] if you would like to discuss this incident.

The product, in the report: Graco Solano Convertable Crib and Bonus Mattress Color: Pebble Gray Mattress Model # 02640-100-ST
There is a gap between the crib and mattress I have for my son. The mattress came with the crib as a set. The mattress will slide from side to side. When centered it is a little less than 1 inch on each side, but when it slides it creates an almost 2 inch gap. He has gotten his arms and legs stuck in between the rails and mattress. In one occasion his head has become wedged. I have contacted the company and they say the gap, which is roughly 2 inches, is recommended and that crib mattresses are not to be snug. They will not remedy the situation. My son is 9 months old and I am afraid of what would happen to a smaller infant.

The product, in the report: Graco Lauren Classic Crib, model #2354497, production date Dec 20, 2013, color Espresso, distributed by LAJOBI INC.
On April 27th I put my 22 month old son down for a nap in his Graco Lauren Crib. Not long after, i heard a loud noise over the baby monitor and went in the room to find he had pushed up the trim across the top of the back of the crib. This exposed small wooden pegs that were loose and 4 of them were laying around him in his crib. This is a part that came pre assembled and was barely attatched. No injueries were sustained but this could have been fatal and parents need to be warned. I emailed Graco with no response so i called. They said since they didn’t make the crib (it was distributed by LAJOBI INC.) there was nothing they could do. LAJOBI is no longer in business and i have no way of contacting them. This crib is still being sold, probably through different distributors. We purchased our crib in Spring 2014 from Wal Mart.

The product, in the report: crib
Caller stated that her 13 month old grand child left leg between his thigh and knee got entrapped between the crib slat. Caller stated that she was unable to remove his leg, she had to call 911 for them to come out to rescue the child. One of the police was able to pull back the slat and release the child’s leg. She administered ice to the swollen area. The child did not receive medical attention. Caller stated the bottom slats had become loose earlier that month causing the child to crawl out of it.
Caller stated that she tried to contact Lajobi but her call would not go through.
Caller feels that the crib is a safety hazard and should be reported.

The product, in the report: Freeport convertible crib classic cherry
I used the crib for my now 2 year old daughter who is more petite than My now 1 year old son, she had the same screaming fits as him but never experienced the incident or injury with her like we did with my son. My sons arm and legs has gotten stuck in the front and side slats of the crib. The first time his leg got stuck resulted in a broken thigh, we are not sure how it happened but when his father went to check on him because he screamed his leg was caught in the front slats. I continued to use the crib thinking it was just a freak accident until his arm got wedged and then when I was finishing up making his bed as I turned the very same leg almost got stuck again.... He now sleeps in a toddler bed and does so much better. I will never use the crib again or if any crib for that matter

First aid Made Nov 20, 2014, sent to the company Dec 5, 2014, published by CPSC Dec 19, 2014
The product, in the report: Graco Rory Crib in Espresso
My son was in his crib for a nap and I heard him screaming at the top of his lungs in his room. I ran in to his bedroom and his arm was stuck in between the crib rails. He was crying hysterically from the pain and it was so stuck that I was unable to remove his arm. This crib has a major design flaw in which the front of the crib curves forward. This creates a wider gap between crib rails at the top of the side panel to accommodate the curve and a very narrow gap between rails at the bottom of the side panel. My son is able to stick his limbs in and out of the gaps between all the rails with no problem but since the gap on the side of the crib is wide at the top, he can side his arm in there and slide it down to where it gets stuck in the narrow gap at the bottom. His arm was so stuck that when I would try to slide his arm back up the whole crib would move with his arm and every time I would try to touch it he would scream and cry in pain! Graco needs to stop selling the cribs that have these side panels! A child should not be injured by their crib!!

The product, in the report: Graco Freeport Convertible Crib (Model # 7064292
I think there might be a problem with the spacing of the slats on this crib. I bought it in the summer of 2012 for my now 2 year old son. I’m currently using it for my 7 month old, and tonight we had a very scary incident tonight. I heard him let out a loud scream, and found his leg stuck in between two of the front side slats of the crib up to his knee. My husband and our roommate had to pull the two slats apart to the point of sounding like its cracking the frame of the crib in order to free his leg. He had 2 very red marks, and it was sensitive to touch for a while afterwards. Nothing that was serious, but it could have turned serious very quickly. Just wondering if this is an isolated problem? The 2 year old had this issue like what happened tonight a few times, but nothing as extreme. His leg was freed by just lifting it up. Had I done that with my littlest one tonight his leg would be broken. I thought I should notify someone of this, as this could have resulted in a very bad break to his leg.
Update: Leg was bruised slightly from knee to mid calf from first incident.
Update: 7/24/2014: Continued to use the crib thinking maybe it was an isolated incident. Nope, happened again just about 30 minutes ago. This time on the back slats with his ankle. Slat was unbreakable, and turned ankle in odd way to free him.He will have another bruise around the ankle this time. I’d rather put him in my bed than risk this again. Won’t be buying anything with the name Graco ever again, or for any children I know.

The product, in the report: Graco Lauren Signature Convertible Crib
This report is regarding the Graco Lauren Signature Convertible Crib. Our son is 13 months old. We follow all the requirements for crib safety-nothing in the crib except mattress and mattress fitted sheet. Today my son climbed out of the crib and hit his head on the ground. He developed a bruise and an abrasion on his forehead. We immediately took him to Kaiser and he is okay. However, he was able to climb out of a crib that should have restrained him until at least the age of 2. Today we avoid a major injury. However, I wanted to warn other parents not to purchase this crib. In fact, I am looking to review if there are other incidences to push Graco to recall the product. Warning do not purchase this product. Our pediatrician was very concerned about the crib and our sons ability to climb out of it at such a young age.

The product, in the report: Graco Ashland Classic Crib in white
I purchased the Graco Ashland crib in white in early August 2013 at a local Walmart. Upon opening the box I noticed a smell and assumed it was just a new item smell. After setting up the crib I had to leave for a couple hours. I returned home to our whole upstairs smell strong of chemicals. My husband and me received an instant headache and I felt nauseous.
Due to the fumes I had to disassemble the crib and move it to another room near an opened window. I thought some fresh air for a few days would remove the smell. I checked on it daily with the welcoming of an instant headache upon opening the door. I then placed baking soda and vinegar in bowls to help reduce the odor. I could still smell the fumes over them the next day. The crib has been in front of a window for 2 weeks and still smells just as strong as the first day.
I tried to contact the manufacturer by phone but kept getting looped around. I then sent them an email about the problem and they contacted me back about 5 days later. I was told it was paint fumes and to spray [REDACTED] onto the crib. Then I was told the fumes weren’t harmful to my child. I know enough that [REDACTED] just covers odors and that paint fumes aren’t good to be breathing.
Upon further inspection of the crib I did notice that the wood was extremely soft. I could indent it with my fingernail and the paint easily chips off. I would not trust a baby old enough to chew on the crib to not get splinters or paint chips into their mouths. Even if you put mouth guards onto the top railings a baby could still scratch the paint off and place the chips into their mouths.
The slats are sized to code but they do look big enough for a baby to get a limb entangled between them. I would recommend at least having a mesh bumper for a smaller infant but I don’t know what would be safe for when the baby is old enough to stand.
I have contacted Walmart about the problem and they are willing to let me return the crib which I will be doing. I do find that this crib is a safety hazard is why I’m filing a report. Even if the crib did off gas after a few more weeks I still would not trust an older baby in it due to the possibility of the wood splintering into their mouths.

I have purchased the 4 in 1 convertible crib for my daughter last year. She is now 13 months old and is standing up in the crib which would be fine but her legs are now slipping between the slats and getting stuck above her knee to the point where we almost have to break it to get her leg out. I contacted the manufacturer and they said they have heard of this before but the rails are to specs and there is nothing that can be put between the slats to prevent from legs getting caught. I am just glad that I got to her before she did any damage to her knee or leg.

We purchased a Graco brand crib at Wal-Mart on 8/8/2011. My toddler keeps getting his legs stuck in between the slats up above the knee which causes him extreme pain and bruising which continues to be sore for days. The slats are very flexible even though the company claims the crib meets all federal guidelines. I was told by the company today (6/21/2013) there is nothing they can recommend and to contact the CPSC if I was still concerned because the CPSC passed the crib as safe. This happened to my child once when he was about 14 months old and several times since. He is now 19 months old and average weight and height for his age and definitely not ready to be moved out of his crib. He is my third child and we used a different crib with the other two children and this is the only crib that has such flexible slats. I never had issues with the older two getting their legs stuck and bruising badly. I do not feel a bumper pad would do much benefit and would potentially be something for him to climb on top of to climb or fall out of the crib. The slats are flexible enough that you can push on them and they bend or warp.
I have pictures of his leg being stuck and then the bruising from two different days.

Model Name: Lauren Signature Convertibile Crib Model Number: 9012346 Manufacturing Date: Sep-11-2012
There is a defect in the crib which involves a small piece of wood that was glued to the frame to conceal some damage during manufacturing. This piece of wood is poorly attached and is inside the crib where the baby will be sleeping. I can easily pry it open with a single fingernail.
This piece of wood could be removed and ingested during the night and is a serious choking hazard.
I have taken pictures of the defect, and can forward them to you if desired.

The product, in the report: Graco Lauren Classic Crib, white color
My 15 month old child was placed in his crib at 7:30 pm for bedtime on 3/7/13. He slept uneventfully until 9 pm when I overheard him via the baby monitor to be softly fussing. This lasted intermittently for 4-5 minutes, however, our concerns quickly subsided as he returned to sleep. Then, my child awoke at 12:15 am on 3/8/13 screaming in pain. My wife and I went into bedroom and found our child to have his right leg stuck in the vertical slats of crib at the level of this thigh just above his knee. I repositioned his leg and was able to dislodge it. My child continued screaming in pain. I quickly removed his pajamas to reveal his right leg below the knee to be cold and pallorous with weak palpable distal pulses (checked dorsalis pedis pulse). This is all evidence the leg was not being perfused appropriately. The right leg on the lateral aspects of his thigh just above the knee was edematous with erythematous areas, evidence of where his leg was stuck. Additionally, there were forming black and blue contusions in the same area of the right knee as a result of the soft tissue trauma caused by the crib. I have obtained photo documentation of this.
Somehow this crib is rated as safe. I am a physician and will be following up with local health officials about this. Per this website I see this is not the first time this has happened to a child. My child appeared to make a full recovery with no ill effects and is doing well currently. He does still have bruises on both sides of his knee 1 week later. I will be following up with the CPSC and the maker of this crib via phone.
My child had a sustained soft tissue injury resulting from this crib design. Additionally, it is safe to say that had my child not had the ability to communicate (for example, if he had a tracheostomy, vocal cord paralysis, CP, etc) he likely would have had permanent vascular damage as a result of his leg getting trapped, possibly losing the function of his leg permanently. Clearly, this product is not safe for children once they become mobile in the crib. Of note, I constructed this crib according to specifications and followed the instructions precisely and did not use any out of the box materials.
The concerning part is that after a quick look on the internet, many cribs appear to have the same design with vertical slats that allow children’s legs and arms through at certain angles.

The product, in the report: Graco/LaJobi convertible crib (no drop side)
We purchased the Charleston convertible crib for my daughter 2 years ago that we have already changed over to a daybed. The crib has the Graco name on it, but apparently is manufactured by LaJobi. Three times in the past two weeks she has woken up screaming because as she sleeps she has been able to wiggle her leg between the slats of the bed and has gotten her knee stuck. This has caused bruising and of course panic. I fear that more serious injuries could occur. We purchased this bed in the hopes that she would use it for years to come, but we will not be able to if it is not safe for her to sleep in. I am not aware of any recalls on this bed.
I contacted the LaJobi company and they emailed me back stating that the crib meets all government standards. While I understand that they meet the standards, that doesn’t mean that the standards are correct. I’m sure my daughter is not the only child that has had a leg stuck between the slats of the crib.
Is there anything that can be done about this. I feel that my child could have easily broke her leg if we hadn’t come in to assist her calmly.
Thank you.

I thought I was going to have to break the slat or call someone. Had he squirmed around or moved wrong this could have caused a serious injury. I put my daughter down for a nap about two months ago, she usually fusses a bit so if she cries, I don’t think very much of it because she always falls asleep. She kept crying and started screaming very loud, so I went in her bedroom to find her swollen knee stuck between the bars of the crib. I could not push it back through because she had bent her leg while it was stuck in there. It had swelled up so bad to where I had to hurt her to push it back through. He leg had marks on each side of her knee (four marks because she had bent it). Her knee was extremely purple and swollen. If this would have gone on longer, my daughter would have lost blood flow to the rest of her leg. The bottom half of her leg was completely discolored and her foot was cold, I would assume from lack of blood flow. We have mesh bumpers all around her crib also.
We continued to use the crib as I figured this wouldn’t happen again. Just yesterday we put her down for a nap and her leg was stuck again! She was in pain as she was screaming and crying very loud. We had to use a lot of force to push her leg back through.
Again last night when we put her down for bed, she was screaming again. My fiance went in to try and soothe her to sleep and yelled for me a moment later. This time she was sitting up with one of her legs stuck past her knee in between the bars and he could not get her free. He leg was once again turning red. I immediately ran into the bathroom to get soapy water to try and free her. Even then, we had to use extreme force to push her leg back through. She was very upset and has a blue bruise on each side of her knee where the crib marks were. We have made an appt with her doctor to make sure her knee is okay because it is very swollen with blue bruises.
This crib needs to be recalled. We will be having her sleep in the pack n play until we can afford to buy a different brand crib. A crib is supposed to be safe. This is not safe.

The product, in the report: Lauren Graco Crib in Classic White
This is in regards to the Graco Lauren crib.
8/29: We had to cut one of the slats on the crib because our 15 month old son’s leg got got in between two of the side rails! He was screaming and crying because he couldn’t get his leg out. I did not expect this to happen with this product since we purchased this crib based on its high reviews (online and in baby books). I now have a crib with a sawed-through slat!
I was informed by the manufacturers of this crib (Lajobi) that the crib is made to the specs of the CPSC. I also read that this is a general issue with all cribs (and kids getting their legs caught between the rails) and the suggested solution is to place a breathable bumper in the crib. It is my understanding that bumpers shouldn’t be placed in cribs (to prevent SIDS). So, my question is, isn’t there a better solution?

I put my daughter down for a nap and after I left the room, I heard screams of pain. I came in to find her leg through the bar and wire where the springs are on the bottom of the crib. Her foot was touching the ground. I had to shove her leg and knee cap back up through the bottom of the crib and it was very difficult and painful. The mattress was all the way to one side and normally does not have that much room to fit her leg through. The mattress was sold as a set from Walmart.

On 8/14/12 my son woke my husband and I up from our sleep screaming. Unusual behavior for my 17 month old. My husband went to retrieve him from his crib and his foot was lodged between the slats of the crib. His ankle has a large red mark on the back and his foot had a similar mark on the front, top area. He has trouble walking and was in obvious pain after the injury and his foot was ice cold. I could tell he probably lodged his foot into the rails in his sleep and only woke us up with his cries when he tried to move his foot and realized it was stuck. We were planning on using this crib for our second child, which is on the way, however we will now be removing this crib from our home and finding something safer for both of our children. I am very disappointed in the number of complaints I have since read regarding this crib and the manufacturer’s feelings that they have no responsibility to their consumer above simply meeting federal guidelines for child safety. Obviously the bare minimum is not working. This crib needs an improvement before there is a child seriously injured from the design.

My 10 month old got his leg all the way up to his thigh stuck in his crib a few nights ago. My husband had to break the bed just to get him out. He could have lost circulation had my husband not thought very quickly. It was a GRACO Stanton Convertible Crib. Model # 3620235-053 PO # 6769 Production date June 2, 2011. After 24 calls to the company I talked to Graco and there reply was to just send me a new crib ( the same as the one that my son got stuck in) or a cheaper version of it that was similar to the one I have. I don’t want this to happen to my son again or to another child.
Thank You

The product, in the report: GRACO Lauren Classic Crib, espresso
This is the second occurrence of a child entrapment injury with this same GRACO crib. I filed a prior CPSC report on 2/17/12, including photos, when the first incident occurred and I never received a response from CPSC investigators or the manufacturer. See CPSC report 20120217-BC4A4-2147470080.
On or about 4/23/12 (similar to the 2/17/12 injury) my wife placed our 17 month-old daughter in the GRACO crib for a nap. We generally stopped using the crib after the first injury, but my wife was washing the sheets of the another portable crib that we were using for our daughter, so this crib was the only option. About 5 to 10 minutes later, my wife heard a loud and distinctive scream from our daughter. Our daughter almost never cries or screams, even when she injures herself. This scream was distinctive and left no doubt that our daughter was in extreme pain. My wife ran into our daughter’s bedroom and found our daughter trapped in the front rails of the crib. Our daughter’s leg was pinned between the wooden rails and her body was twisted, trapping her in such a position that her neck was twisted. The screams became muffled as our daughter’s airway closed off, beginning to suffocate her. My wife worked frantically to dislodge our daughter from the rails, but she described the process as “very difficult” to dislodge our daughter.
Again, our daughter suffered deep bruising on the area of her leg that was trapped, along with swelling and pain. Fortunately, my wife was nearby and was able to dislodge our daughter before she became unconscious from her neck being trapped in a twisted position.
I do not believe the CPSC, GRACO, or LAJOBI (the manufacturer) have taken appropriate steps to prevent these serious entrapment injuries.
On 6/26/12, I phoned GRACO and notified them of the two injuries associated with this model crib, knowing that many other children must be suffering similar or more serious injuries. I have now disassembled the crib completely and will no longer use it. THIS CRIB DESIGN IS UNSAFE AND HAS INJURED MY ONE YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER TWICE. GRACO was entirely uninterested in investigating or correcting the hazard, and they refused to offer replacement or refund money for the crib during my phone conversation. GRACO directed me to contact the manufacturer, LAJOBI.
LAJOBI showed even less interest in doing anything, while admitting that they receive a high volume of calls regarding children being injured by these cribs. The LAJOBI representative I phoned blamed the CPSC, explaining that LAJOBI crib rails are designed from CPSC standards and until the CPSC changes those standards they will continue to market and sell these cribs. LAJOBI said they will not replace any cribs or refund any money, citing the CPSC standards.
I told the LAJOBI representative that it seemed odd that a manufacturer would knowingly continue to sell a product that is injuring a high number of children, and again she explained that it was the CPSC’s fault, not theirs. She said the CPSC was aware of the injures and has failed to changed the standards, so there is nothing the manufacturers will do.
Based on my initial investigation, there is plenty of liability to spread around (between GRACO, LAJOBI, and CPSC) and finger-pointing, but everyone is missing this goal of protecting our children - - very odd, since all the parties involved have children as their primary responsibility.

The consumer stated that her 11 month old child consistently gets themselves caught in the slats of their full sized stationery convertible crib. Usually when the child leg gets the stuck the consumer will hear the child cry and remove the child’s leg from the slat. The consumer stated this has happened 4 overnight. This began happening a few months ago. The consumer has placed breathable bumpers in this crib and has still difficulty with her daughter getting caught in the slats. She has gotten caught in the slats on a few more separate occasions, but with slightly less degree of difficulty in getting her out.
The consumer did not call the fire department to get her out of the crib. Her child sustained imprints from the crib and bruising just above the knee most times. The consumer has yet to schedule a doctor visit. The consumer estimates that the slats are 2.5 inches apart from each other. The consumer has not called a doctor or a physician on any instance. The company called the firm today and was informed that they can file a report for her.
The consumer has not called the retailer. The consumer’s child weighs 18-20 pounds roughly. The crib has signs of structural damage from her daughter’s teething. The crib has not damaged the consumer’s home. The consumer does not believe that the crib has a coil mattress. The consumer has not seen any recalls or reports on this matter for similar cribs. Ordinarily, when the child gets his leg caught, the consumer is in another room away from the child.

When my daughter was 6 weeks old I had put her down in her Lauren crib for nap time. After 10-15 minute she started to fuss. After she fussed for around a minute I peeked my head in the room to make sure she was OK. I was horrified to see that her entire lower half was sticking out through the crib slats! The only thing holding her was her diaper!
If I had not checked in on her she could have passed through the slots possibly up to her shoulders or worse her neck.
I understand that the slats are up to the current safety standards but since bumpers are no longer allowed in cribs changes must be made in order to avoid children slipping through. We should NOT have to wait until a child is seriously injured or dies to have change.
The crib is produced by LaJobi for the Graco brand.

My son’s Graco crib which was purchased from Target in 2010is splintering. My son has taken to chewing the sides of the crib, and while this is normal behavior for an 18 month old, the crib is not holding up to this normal wear & tear. He has been able to bite off large chunks & splinters and I am concerned he could choke on them, or that a splinter could become lodged in his throat. We were told chewing is not covered under the warranty, this is far beyond teeth marks in the wood, this has become dangerous for my son.

My 7 month old son, [REDACTED], was laying down to take a nap, I heard him screaming at the top of his lungs and when I ran in to see what was the matter he had put his leg through the slat so far his upper thigh became stuck. I tried to help him pull it out but it was lodged in the slat so much that it would not budge. I had to leave my son and run out to the kitchen where I then grabbed some cooking oil and poured it all over his upper thigh to slide it back out. His upper thigh is very red and I would not be surprised if it doesn’t bruise. I am very much upset - he could have broken his leg!!! This crib needs to be recalled ASAP! Very unsafe!

Consumer stated that her daughter’s crib poses a potential choking hazard to her daughter as the wood from the frame dethatches very easily. The consumer’s daughter of 15 months has been removing the wooden frame the inside of her crib and ingesting the wooden segments. The consumer stated that she removed a segment as large as the size of her pinkie finger. The consumer made initial contact about this with retailer on July 11, 2011 and referred her to get in contact with the firm.
The consumer made contact with the firm that same day but was told by the firm’s rep that she needed to contact her via email and show her a picture of the crib. The consumer made email contact with the firm via email July 13th, 2011, who responded July 21, 2011 and was told that the wood was safe for lead ingestion and the finish was safe offered no further guidance.
The consumer stated that the product has resulted in no injuries of lacerations to her daughter’s mouth or gums. The consumer consulted with her daughter’s pediatrician on the next day over the phone and told her the product was indeed not safe.

The product, in the report: Graco Ashleigh 4 in 1 convertible crib
My son twisted and bruised his ankle while using his crib. We have his crib bare with no bumpers - just a sheet on the mattress. His ankle got caught in the slats while sleeping and he started screaming. When I was able to get to the nursery his ankle was purple and was stuck in the slats of the crib.

The product, in the report: Graco lauren classic 4 in 1 crib in espresso
i purchased a Graco Lauren Classic Crib in Expresso (4 in 1 crib) last year at target. We just recently started putting our one year old son in his crib. we have noticed that this crib seems to have the wooden slats/ vertical bars too far apart and my son’s extremities seem to get stuck in them while he is sleeping. This has happend several times. Today he was napping and woke up screaming due to his leg and foot being entrapped in the bars. Luckily he only got a bruise but i fear that one day this could cause him to break his leg. i called target where we purchased the crib and they are not aware of a recall on this crib. they refuse to return it and i have the reciept. i do not have the funds to purchase him another bed and do not know what to do because he needs a bed. if this crib is not on the recall list it should be due to the entrapment of the childs extremities.

The product, in the report: Espresso finish crib
My 9 month old son has on more than a few occassions gotten his leg stuck in the slats of the Graco Lauren crib. I have been awakened by him screaming because his upper thigh has gone through the slats and gotten stuck. On one occassion, I had a hard time getting him out of it and when I did, his leg was cold as if it had been in there for quite some time before it woke him up or it became uncomfortable.

The product, in the report: Graco Lauren Classic Convertible Crib
There have been two mornings this past week that my daughter has managed to get herself stuck between the bars in her crib rails. The first time it happened (earlier this week), her leg was sticking out the rails, and it was wedged all the way up to her high thigh. I was able to get her out okay, but her poor leg was very cold.
This morning was the second time this has happened. I woke up to her crying. I went into her room and saw that both her legs were sticking out of the rails stuck at the knees. I was able to get her out by gently adjusting her position. Her knees and legs had deep indents and purple lines where the bars were pressing on them and her legs were once again very cold.
She is ten and a half months old, about average in size for her age. I don’t think she should be able to get herself stuck in the bars like that.
