The product, in the report: It is a gray convertible 4 in 1 crib

Last night I awoke to the sound of my 14 month old screaming suddenly, and found that his leg was wedged between two bars of his delta emery 4-in-1 convertible crib above the knee, at the level of his thigh. We were unable to maneuver him in such a way as to free his leg, and had to break one of the two bars that had trapped him. He suffered pain and bruising as his leg was significantly compressed between the two bars. He stopped screaming immediately once we broke the bars. I want to add that we were using the crib to specifications. He was sleeping with an appropriate mattress and a fitted sheet and the mattress was lowered to its lowest position. He does not and has never had crib bumpers as I am very strict on safe sleep.

13 month old son was in his crib and got his right leg wedged in between the bars on the crib. His leg was pinned in a way that he was unable to pull in back out and was hanging by his leg. His leg and knee had injuries with swelling bruising and unable to walk or stand. I had to break the wooden bar to remove his leg.

The product, in the report: Delta 4 in 1 crib with Kolcraft pediatric 800 mattress.

I have triplets. All three have their own separate cribs. The cribs and mattresses are the same for all three babies. Recently, babies have been getting stuck between the mattresses and the inside of the cribs. I have taken measurements and the mattresses are a little small. Also, the minimum mattress width is 27 and 1/4 inches and the maximum width for the inside of the crib is 28 and 5/8 inches. This leaves almost 1.5 inches allowed gap, not accounting for compression of the baby wedges himself in between.

The product, in the report: Delta Crib Style 6992 Color 645 lot no. QH16592 Pack date 201609

Dear Sirs: We purchased a Delta crib, style 6992-645, lot QH16592, date 201609, from Target for our granddaughter a few weeks ago. Last week we picked her up from the crib after her nap to discover her mouth was full of the varnish she scraped off of the top of the crib rail with her teeth. We discovered that the varnish is easily removed down to the wood with a light scrap of a fingernail. We contacted Delta and we were instructed to buy various accessories to prevent her from teething on the crib rail and were assured that the varnish was not toxic. The representative was not alarmed at how easily the varnish could be removed. Our only option according to Delta is to return the crib to the retailer for a refund, which is problematic without the packaging. Delta failed to offer any form of help and failed to show any concern that the finish was so easily removed from the crib. This may be an isolated incident, and it may not. Since Delta did not request our contact information, we do not anticipate any further action on their part. I find it hard to believe Delta condones babies eating varnish.

My son was put down for bed and after about an hour he started screaming at the top of his lungs in pain. When I got to him both of his legs had gotten stuck in between the vertical slots on his crib. It is a miracle both his legs were not broken with his flailing around in pain. His legs were caught above the knee caps which made it extremely difficult to get loose.

The product, in the report: Delta Layla 4 in 1 Convertible Crib in Dark Chocolate

I have been reading about the recall on Delta Cribs. I on the other hand think there should be a way to lower the side of the crib safely or have it bend down in half or something. I was putting my 9 month old grandson back to bed, he was asleep, and when I tried to lower him into the crib, I pulled a muscle in my stomach area. I am only 5’ 2” and the side of the crib is tall. I get up with him on the weekends and this is a problem for me. They had to lower the mattress because he is pulling himself up and they do not want him to fall out. I do want it to be completely safe for the baby, but there must be a better way. I always used the cribs for my children with the side that lowered down.

Over the past 17 months several times my son has got his legs stuck between the slats of the crib. He would be screaming in pain and also he cant move at all and when we use baby oil or something of that sort we can barely get him out. When we do get him out there is a deep red ring around his thigh of the impression of him being stuck. And just recently he got his arm stuck but we were able to free him but his shoulder was very tender.

The product, in the report: Crib

Caller purchased crib 2014, has moved and was using pack and play for a short while then assembled the crib again Friday, June 5th, 2015.

She put her baby to bed June 5th, 2015 and after he woke and was out of the crib Saturday, June 6th, 2015 she noticed that her 13 1/2 month old baby son was limping slightly. She didn’t know why but thought maybe he stepped on something then as the day wore on his limping improved.

She placed her baby in the crib for a nap this morning Tuesday, June 9th, 2015 then after only 20 minutes he was screaming and crying, she went to his room and his right leg was caught in the slats up to his knee. He was totally lodged between the slats.

The caller moved the baby’s leg upwards to free him then noticed as he walked after being comforted that the limping had returned just as badly as it had been on Saturday.

The caller contacted the manufacturer today, June 9th, 2015, she spoke with a product manager named [REDACTED] who advised her that the gap between the slats is 2 1/8”, that it is compliant and that she needs to get after market mesh to place on the crib to avoid these incidents. The caller asked him if this was written in the product booklet and he responded that it is not.

The baby has not been seen by a doctor.

On 6/9/15 the caller purchased the after market mesh liner. On 6/12/15 he apparently kicked over the mesh and down and had his foot and leg caught again. On 6/15/15 his right leg was caught again. The aftermarket mesh, also purchased at Target, does not help.

My daughter flipped over in her crib and her leg was stuck in between the crib rails. She was crying and I could not get her leg out. I had to call 911 to help me. Her leg was losing blood circulation and turning purple. After some time had passed I pulled the crib rails until one popped and broke. The Fire Department arrived first and examined her.

While my son was sleeping in his crib, turned over to his side and stretched out his leg. When he extended his leg, it became lodged in between two wooden slats that come down vertically from the top rail to the bottom rails of the crib. His leg was wedged past the knee and he could not remove it himself and became stuck. My wife and I had to stabilize him and and pry the two wooden pieces apart to the point where they bent and eventually bent and cracked creating enough of a gap so that we could pull him back out. He was screaming in pain throughout the ordeal. Upon inspecting his leg, he had significant bruising and swelling around his left knee and required us to give him [REDACTED] and an ice pack to reduce the swelling. He was screaming amd writhing around so much that we had thought he broke his leg trying to get it out in the few seconds it took us to reach him.

The product, in the report: Delta Children’s Capri 3-In-1 Crib

The consumer would like to file a report against the company, indicating that the crib model described above poses a safety hazard.

09/26/2014 The consumer placed her son inside the crib at around 1900 hours to go to the kitchen to pick up a bottle to feed him. Approximately thirty seconds after exiting the room, the consumer heard loud screaming. She hurried to the bedroom where her son was and found him inside the crib lying diagonally on his stomach with his right leg all the way up to his hip stuck between the rails. Initially, his leg would not budge when she tried to take it out. The consumer was scared because she thought her son’s leg would break. He would not stop squirming, which in turn hurt him more and the screaming and crying continued. He remained doing this for the two minutes the consumer could not free him out of the crib’s rails. Finally she was finally able to do so by turning him diagonally and squeezing his thigh while he cried even more.

The consumer’s son cried for at least fifteen minutes after his leg was released. His thigh was red for the following thirty minutes and it was noticeable where the bars had his leg trapped. The baby was not bruised and the consumer states there were no further physical damages to him. The consumer states that her son was only transitioning to the crib from his bassinet, having only been inside it maybe five times with stays of no longer than twenty minutes. Her son has not been placed inside the crib ever since the incident. The consumer recalls that her son’s leg was trapped between the bars once before but considering she was able to release it with ease; she found no need to report it.

09/30/2014 The consumer contacted the manufacturer and spoke to [REDACTED]. She was not able to fully explain the incident before he told her that her crib model met the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s standards and that because of this there was nothing the company could do for her. He recommended that she buy products that prevent these types of incidents and that are specifically designed for hyperactive children.

The consumer suggested to[REDACTED]that they refund her the money she spent on the crib – an approximate 145.00 US$ – and again he told her that they would do no such thing because CPSC’s standards were met when manufacturing her crib model and it has not been involved in any recall. The consumer then asked to speak to another representative of the company and [REDACTED]informed her that this would not be possible. She asked him if he was the President or owner of the company and he responded that he was not. The call lasted between fifteen and twenty minutes.

The consumer states that she has a hard time believing no one above [REDACTED]was available for her to speak to. She indicates that not once did he ask her about the welfare of her child. The consumer believes that she should receive a full refund for the product and thus plans on contacting the retailer to see if they would be more sensitive to the matter.

The product, in the report: Delta 4 in 1 convertible crib. Black cherry.

I purchased a crib from Target 6 months ago. It was a Delta 4 in 1 convertible crib in Black Cherry. We planned to have this crib and eventually turn it into a toddler bed when he was ready. However last month, my son was able to break the underneath wiring that the mattress lays on. It was very dangerous because the metal was sticking up and he could have easily impaled himself on it. He had done it after his nap and I wasn’t able to run out and buy another bed until the next day so I had to rig the wires together with a wiring and it held for the night however I didn’t sleep at all because I was terrified that he would fall through or impale himself from it coming undone. A child who is less than 30lbs (crib says up to 50 lbs), should NOT be able to break METAL. It shouldn’t matter if a child jumps on it, pulls at it with his hands, or whatever. A 2 year old should not be able to snap metal. It’s very dangerous!

Purchased the crib brand new from Target last year. Chronically since then, the long rails come loose and wiggle. Even after constant tightening the rails still come loose. Contacted Delta to request assistance and was met by a rude representative who shipped out replacement rails. When I got the replacement rails, they were the incorrect rails. After repeated Facebook and phone attempts to contact the company to rectify this issue, I’m filing a report.

The product, in the report: the Cambridge Crib ‘N’ Changer combines a well built transitional 4-in-1 bed with a changing table that can be detached and used as a night table when converted to the full size bed. The crib converts and grows with your child to a toddler bed, daybed and to a full size bed with headboard. The sturdy and safe changing table consists of one removable hamper four shelves and a water resistant changing pad.

My daughter is 15 months old and has slept in our room since she was born. We decided it was definitely time to put her in her own room in her crib. We own a Delta Children’s Cambridge Convertible Crib and Changer. The first night I placed her in her crib, she was standing up holding the top bar. I was still in the room with her and she began to cry because her leg was stuck between the bars. I had to forcefully push her leg back out. I thought maybe this was an isolated kind of thing but I stayed with her until she fell asleep. The next night we laid her down in her crib, she fell asleep. We thought all was fine but in the middle of the night, we heard her screaming over the monitor and rushed into her room and again her leg was stuck between the bars. We had to forcefully push her leg out, which by the way was very painful for her. Now we are no longer comfortable placing her in her crib and she is back in her room until we figure out a solution or buy a new crib.

Grandson was asleep in a crib from Delta Enterprises, Model 4920-1, Order number 523262, Date 1-10-04. He was stirring and the bottom fell out of the crib. I measured the board in the bottom of the crib. It is 26.25 inches. The distance between the rails in the bottom is 26 inches. Therefore, the board ( a piece of Masonite or something similar) does not sit flat in the bottom. It sits at an angle with one side in the proper position and one side up on the top of the bottom piece. So the board can slide uphill and the bottom drops out on the other side. He fell approximately 18 inches. He had no injuries other than a scratch. But it could have been worse.

The product, in the report: Delta Winter Park 3-in-1 Convertible Crib in Winter Spice. Assembled size: 56” long x 29” wide x 43” high. Style #: 6212-209, Lot: #QW12580

We set up our new Delta Winter Park 3-in-1 Convertible Crib fresh from Target and placed the mattress in it. We also had some shower gifts inside (well below the weight limit of the crib). We noticed a few days later that the mattress was sagging on one corner. Upon investigation, we found that the anchor to which the mattress support bracket was attached had removed itself from the hole in the crib leg. We further noted that this anchor is not threaded, nor does it have a bolt end to secure it through the leg, as would be the case in a good and safe design.

Target will not accept the return of the crib since we already disposed of the very large box. Delta offered only to send a new leg, which we are waiting on; but we feel this hardware is inadequate and not a safe design. The mattress could easily fall and entrap a child. We have pictures of the flaw.

My 11 month old baby was put to bed. A couple of hours later we heard her crying when I look to see what was wrong she was standing up with her right leg stuck between the crib’s slats. She couldn’t take her knee out. It took some lotion and some maneuvering to get her knee free from between the slats. All of these while she was hanging on to the railing and standing up in only her left leg. Her knee was bruised very badly. Keep in mind this happened a couple of more times before as well. As every 11 month old, she’s starting to walk now but I noticed that she drags her right leg a little rather than taking a full step. I’m starting to think that this is due to her knee getting stuck in her crib several times and her knee been in some kind of pain. We bought this crib brand new a few months before she was born. I have two older girls and I had never such a dangerous thing happened to any of them with a crib. The crib that we have is a Delta Houston Crib N Changer, style # 78001-607.

My 22 month old nephew has bruised his knee by getting it stuck in the slats on the crib. I have tried a bumper that is above his knee and he has still injured his knee. I am in the process of attaching protection that goes from the top of the rail to under the mattress. I am going to try another bumper attached to this one or something. I see no evidence of a recall since the space between the slats is within limits. If they were slightly wider the child would not get their leg into the gap. Slightly narrower slats the child could remove their leg but it might not meet requirements for slat width. Please check this out. A child could injure their kneecap seriously. He has a bruise the size of a half-dollar or larger.

I had to help her squeeze her arm out of the bars and her arms was red and had indentation marks from the slats.

My 11 month-old daughter was put to bed. An hour later we heard a startling cry. We went in to find that her leg was stuck between the corner post of the crib and the first slat. She could not free herself. It took some time for us to be able to get her leg unstuck. It left deep indentions above her left ankle and left side of her calf due to her leg being stuck at an angle. After applying ice for 5-10 minutes the deep indention on her ankle lifted and left a purplish red mark as well as the one on the left side of her calf. This crib was new when we got it just before she was born. I have two other children and have never experienced anything this dangerous with a crib. The Delta Tyson 3-in-1 crib I have used for two children has an ongoing problem with the space between the slats. Starting around 1 year of age, the kids’ legs are pudgy enough to get stuck between the slats when they are laying down. My son who is now 17 months old also gets his leg stuck at the knee when he is standing up in the crib. He gets stuck one way or another probably at least once a week. No real injuries have resulted other than red marks on their legs where they were stuck. However, the kids have been in obvious pain (and a little panicked) when they were stuck. Because it has been such a frequent problem and has happened with both of our kids, I felt like other people probably have trouble with it, too, so it should be reported.

I know that crib bumpers are suggested for accidental entrapment, but my daughter put her leg through on purpose and would have just gone over or under the bumpers. I was unable to get her out without having to saw the rung off of the crib. She was not injured, but it was very scary and she could have been hurt had I not seen what was happening on the video monitor. I don’t think any child product should require a saw to extract a child from it.

I purchased a Delta crib from Toys r us and received it the beginning of this month, January 2012. While I was putting the crib together, I got to where you attach the mattress support part to the leg of the crib, I wasn’t able to because there were no rivets in the leg to screw in the screws. I right away called Delta and the girl that answered the phone didn’t even let me fully explain the problem...she said it was a common problem and they would send out the part right away. I was very concerned by this and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was put on the line w/[REDACTED], a supervisor there at Delta. He told me Oh well it happens and that he would send the leg out right away and that it was nothing to be concerned with. Well this morning, January 18, 2012, I went to get my grandson from his crib and found that he had pulled off several pieces of the veneer that goes over the wood on the leg of the crib. He had pieces of all sizes, mostly in the crib and some of it in his mouth. There were pieces that were small enough that he could have chocked on them. Right away I called Delta and again got on the phone w/[REDACTED], the supervisor at Delta. He said to me that my grandson could only have bit of parts from the top of the crib and he must be teething. I said No, that it was from the side leg and he couldn’t possible fit his head between the bars to be able to bite on the leg. He asked that I send him pictures and told me he would forward them on to be investigated. I have sent the pictures he requested and will wait for Delta to reply. But in the mean time, Once again I have a crib that I Can Not put my grand son into, and will have to put him in his pack and play, where I know he will be safe because he is Not safe in the Delta crib. Please before a baby does choke to death on a piece of veneer from the crib, please do something to stop Delta from continuing to mass produce Unsafe cribs. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

The product, in the report: Delta crib with slats 2 1/4 inches apart

Once yesterday and twice today so far my son has gotten his leg stuck in his crib slats. He seems to be fine now but when stuck he screams in pain like I have never heard him do before. It is also incredibly difficult to get his leg unstuck. I measures the slats and they have about 2 1/4 inches between them, within the guidelines. This is unsafe, now I have to switch him to his pack-n-play to sleep in after spending a fortune on this crib. The regulations need to be changed, this has got to be dangerous and is certainly painful for him.

The product, in the report: Sleigh 3 in 1 Crib

In March of 2011 I bought a crib from Target. It is made by Delta Childrens Products, Style # 6312-209, Lot # SC10272, Pack Date Nov. 24, 2010. My daughters legs get stuck in between the wooden slats of this crib. This has been an ongoing issue every since I purchased the crib. The older she gets the harder it is to free her. I will eventually have to break the slats to get her leg out and avoid injuring her.

This is a copy of the email correspondance I have had regarding my cribs. The same problem happening in 2 cribs is a serious issue.

This is a copy of my previous coorespondance. My second crib (I have twins) is also coming apart. There are 4 springs missing. Unfortunately I could only find 2 of them this morning. I don’t know where the other 2 springs are or when they broke. I think you have a serious problem and you have been lucky that some child hasn’t seriously injured themselves. Please send another mattress support as soon as possible. Contact me at [REDACTED]if you have any questions. I have attached a photo of the springs I found this morning. Parts are missing from one spring. [REDACTED]

Tyson Crib Item #7602-218 3-in-1 Crib: Converts to toddler bed or day bed Stationary non-drop side design I purchased this crib in January of 2011 while assembling the product we noticed that the top joint of the upper right side end was not glued or fit together properly I call Delta they sent me a replacement part. Now in June when my infant son was actually using the crib we noticed it was a little loose on the left side a month later while changing the bedding in July the entire left side of the cribs end head board separated from both the top and bottom of the crib making the frame board and mattress fall to the floor. I am so thankful my child was not in the crib when this happened as he is 5 months old and becoming active he could has easily kicked or pushed on the frame.
