The product, in the report: Bonavita The Belmont collection The Belmont Lifestyle Crib

We purchased the Bonavita The Belmont Collection baby furniture in [REDACTED]. Our son is 14.5 months old and has used his crib for the last 8.5 months. On Tuesday, Jan 13, 2015 I put my son down for a nap in the safest place I thought. In a matter of 5 minutes from laying him down, I heard earth shattering screams from him. I raced to his room and discovered that my child had his entire leg stuck in between the rails on the backside of the crib. He was inconsolable and holding his breath. He tried to free his leg himself and by doing this panicked himself into a hysterical crying. I as a parent tried to free his leg, when the several attempts failed when it reached his knee cap. My only other option was to frantically call 911 and receive medical attention. the state troopers and EMTs arrived at my house and were able to free my scared and hurt 14.5 month old child. My child suffered from a knee cap severely bruised and the trauma of knowing that his crib is not the safest place for him. I am appalled that my baby was able to get his leg through the spaces between each rail, when it is clearly stated on the paper work that this crib is CPSC, ASTM & JPMA tested. Clearly that is not the case and the standards need to re looked at and reevaluated. My child should have NEVER been able to get his leg stuck. My husband had to zip tie plastic containers lids to the outside of his crib to protect him from getting his leg or arm stuck again. with the amount of money we played for this crib we should have had better results and higher safety standards for our son.

The product, in the report: Crib with adjustable hight bed frame. Bonivita, #020188802, lisa natural, september 18, 2001, made in Italy

My daughter, [REDACTED], has gotten her legs stuck betweeen the bars of her crib aprox. 4 times within the last month. During the last incident on July 7, 2011 her left leg was stuck so tightly between the bars that her leg was discolored to a purpleish color. My husband was trying to pull the bars apart so that I had space to pull her leg out. Her leg was wedged between the bars above her knee area around the middle of her thigh. Her pajama pant leg was pushed up and I used lotion to try and lubricate the area so that it would slide out easier. Even with the lubrication and my husband trying to move the bars it took about a minute to free both legs. After getting both of her legs out she had deep creasses in her legs from the bars and the creased areas were very red. She has gotten her legs stuck while covered with cloth and when they were bare skin. She is now sleeping in a pack-n-play because we do not feel that the crib is safe.
