The product, in the report: Crib
Caller stated that her 1 year old grandchild right index finger got entrapped in the hole that allows the mattress support to move to different levels, She stated that when she attempted to remove her finger it was difficult so she pulled on it real hard which caused bleeding to her finger. No medical attention was received,
(10/22)The retailer was contacted and she was informed that the manufacturer was no longer in business. Caller stated that other manufacturer’s cribs display the same problems. She feels that these holes should have a safety cap over them preventing this incident,
Caller is concerned that these holes are a safety hazard that can cause harm to infants.

The product, in the report: Babi Italia Nursery 101 Concord Classic Convertible Crib - Classic White
My 2 year old son was put down for a nap while we monitored him on our video monitor. We have never had a problem with him sleeping or with our crib. I heard screaming and immediately ran up to his room. I found that his leg was stuck in the crib slats above his knee. It took me over 10 minutes to get his leg out. I could tell he was in a lot of pain. His leg is red, bruised and swollen immediately after, and I imagine it will continue to bruise over the next few days.

Hurt, care not known Made May 13, 2014, sent to the company Jul 17, 2014, published by CPSC Jul 31, 2014
The product, in the report: Crib
(5/12/14) Caller stated that her 13 month old child legs were entrapped between the crib slats and she had difficulty removing it, dishwashing detergent and water was used to release the child’s legs. The child weighs 23 pounds. There had been 3 prior incidents where he was stuck but was able to release his own legs. His legs were stuck all the way up to his thighs. In removing the child’s legs she noticed minor bruising (red marks). No medical attention was received.
(5/13/14) The manufacturer was contacted and she was advised that if the child was placed in the crib again this incident could re-occur and that she should place the child in a toddler bed.
Caller feels that this crib is a safety hazard and should be reported.

The product, in the report: Babi Italia Pinehurst Crib (fixed sided)
The consumer stated that her 14 month old child consistently gets themselves caught in the slats of their full sized stationery convertible crib. Usually when the child leg gets the stuck the consumer will hear the child cry and remove the child’s leg from the slat. The consumer stated that as of two weeks this began happening with regularity.
Two days ago her son had the worst experience he has had with the crib. She heard her child crying and came into his room to find that his caught past his right leg past his knees to the inner thigh The consumer spent 5 minutes just trying to maneuver his leg out of the crib. The consumer has placed bumpers in this crib and has recently removed them. The consumer did not call the fire department to get him out of the crib.
Her child sustained bruises to his right leg. The consumer has yet to schedule a doctor visit. This consumer stated that this has happened at least 6 times in the last 14 days occasion, each time the consumer has to somehow maneuver his leg out of the crib slats. The consumer estimates that the slats are 2.5-3 inches apart from each other. The consumer has not called a doctor or a physician on any instance. The consumer called the firm today and was told that she should call the CPSC and there was nothing they could do for her. The consumer has yet to call the retailer to make them aware of the entrapment hazard. The consumer’s child weighs 22.5 pounds roughly. The child does not have any scratches. The crib has signs of structural damage from her son’s teething.
The crib has not damaged the consumer’s home. The crib has a coil mattress that the consumer has replaced. The consumer has not seen any recalls or reports on this matter for similar cribsOrdinarily, when the child gets his leg caught, the consumer is in the room with the child.
UPDATE: After consumer made this report, both of her son’s legs got pinned in the slats at the same time. She and her husband had to help him get out together and sh eis at the point of letting him sleep with them until they are able to get another crib. She feels it’s possible for a baby’s leg to get broken in this crib.

First aid Made Jan 9, 2012, sent to the company Jan 17, 2012, published by CPSC Feb 7, 2012
The product, in the report: Babi Italia Eastside Single Crib Classic Cherry
On Sunday January 8, 2012, I was putting my 17 month old son down for a nap in his crib (Babi Italia Eastside Single crib). As I as walking out of the room, he began to scream. I turned around and his left ankle and foot were stuck in between the bars on the side of the crib. After unsuccessfully trying to bend the bars slightly to release his foot and ankle, my husband had to physically break the bar off to release his foot, which was swollen and bruised on both sides of his ankle. My son is in the 65% percentile for both height and weight and should not be able to get his foot in between the bars of the crib. The distance between the crib bars should be reviewed to ensure this does not happen to any other family. When I spoke to the customer service representative at Babi Italia (LaJobi, Inc.), she informed me that they have received several calls about toddlers getting their feet stuck in between the bars of the crib.

The product, in the report: Babi Italia Eastside Single Crib - Classic Cherry Serial Number: 4091654-038 Production Date: July 24 2010 LaJoBe PO: 5667
We have had several incidents where our daughters feet are getting caught in the slats of the crib. Here is a copy of a review we recently posted on the product.
Being a victim of the drop-side crib fiasco, we were given a voucher to purchase a new crib, even though we had never experienced any problems. Being diligent and desiring safety for our children we set out to find a new crib. We really liked the finish and the quality of materials of this crib, however...
Unfortunately about 6 months after we purchased the crib, we awoke to a terrible scream, not the normal type of scream. Rushing in we found our 6 month old daughter with her foot caught around the ankle between the slats, not a problem we ever had with our previous crib, the notorious drop-side crib, through 2 babies. We have tried to weave the bedding bumper through the slats to help prevent recurrences but we still have occasional problems. As recent as last night, 10/30/2011, our now 18 month old daughter began screaming again. This time there was a noticeable indent on her ankle and swelling on her foot.
Other negatives are the customer support we received. The crib was shipped with the incorrect assembly directions and hardware. It took nearly a month to receive the parts and the correct directions.
This is a beautiful crib, but be warned of its dangers.
