Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

  1. First aid

Made Aug 11, 2026, sent to the company Aug 14, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 31, 2026

The product, in the report: 150 extra firm and resilient steel coils offer a safe and supportive sleep surface GREEN GUARD certified for a healthier sleeping environment Product Dimension: 51.63 x 27.25 x 5.25” The airflow pocket allows the mattress to breathe Fits all USA standard-size cribs and toddler beds for years of use Waterproof cover wipes clean extra-durable cover Extra durable reinforced cover and binding 2 hypoallergenic layers offer cushioned comfort for infants and toddlers

On July 27, 2026, I noticed a large, sharp metal spring broke and was protruding directly through the surface of my two-year-old child’s crib mattress (Sealy Ortho Rest crib mattress). My child sleeps on this mattress, and we had previously noticed unexplained scratches on her skin, which we now realize were caused by this broken metal spring.

I purchased two of these mattresses for my daughters and had to replace them due to this severe safety hazard. Upon contacting Sealy on July 27, 2026, to report this critical safety defect and request a refund under their lifetime warranty on springs, I received no response after waiting over a week. I have retained the defective mattress and photographic evidence of the protruding spring.

  2. No incident, no one hurt

Made Dec 26, 2025, sent to the company Jan 22, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 11, 2026

The product, in the report: Sealy Cozy Rest 2-stage extra firm mattress,51.63 inches x 27.25 inches, 11 lbs. white with grey circles

I ordered a standard Sealy Cozy Rest 2-stage crib mattress for my baby. It was supposed to fit inside any standard crib, but it did not. The crib we have is a [REDACTED] convertible crib. You could easily fit 4 fingers in each corner and 2.5 fingers between either edges and the crib. There were no injuries. My baby slept in it several times as a newborn. As soon as I noticed the big gaps along the corners and edges, I threw it out and bought a different mattress. There are many other parents with similar complaints about this mattress on the [REDACTED] website.

  3. No one hurt

Made Aug 30, 2012, sent to the company Sep 12, 2012, published by CPSC Sep 26, 2012

The product, in the report: Sealy baby crib mattress pad

Sealy crib mattress pad shrinks with washings. When put on crib mattress, it compacts the mattress length, leaving a 3 to 4 inch space between the mattress and crib. There were no injuries, I cut the side fabric so it would not pull.

Made Sep 28, 2011, sent to the company Oct 6, 2011, published by CPSC Oct 21, 2011

The product, in the report: Sealy Soybean Everedge Foam mattress manufactured by Kolcraft

The mattress is being used in a crib. The material that surrounds the mattress is unsafe for babies and causes indents in the mattress. My baby is 3 months old and these indents have caused her to roll and lean in the bed. I contacted the company and they said that the material doesn’t “bounce back quickly.” I have had this problem for approximately 3 weeks and I even tried flipping the mattress, but the same thing happens. I have never seen it improve or “bounce back.” I am concerned that this is a safety issue that, if a newborn or young baby were to roll onto their stomach because of it, it can cause suffocation.
