The product, in the report: https://www.venicechild.com/product-page/sunset-dreaming Sunset Dreaming portable co-sleeping bassinet -grey

After placing our 3 day old into the Venice Child Sunset Dreaming portable bassinet, we came back and found him face first in the mesh siding. Afterwards, I took out my level and found the surface to be uneven. After many attempts, we found that even after leveling if any pressure is applied (like while putting baby in), it becomes uneven again. I dont see how this could ever be considered safe.

The product, in the report: Venice Child® California Dreaming Foldable Bedside Bassinet. Manufacturer website of item: https://www.venicechild.com/product-page/california-dreaming-portable-bed-side-crib Retailer website of item: https://www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/venice-child-california-dreaming-foldable-bedside-bassinet/5666257

I am reporting my concern regarding the Venice Child® California Dreaming Foldable Bedside Bassinet. The bassinet is not levelled (photo Provided) which creates a lateral tilt, that increases risk for child to slide to the edges of the bassinet, which could lead to suffocation. Other customers have expressed their concern on buybuybaby.com under the review section (screen shot provided). I woke up to find my 4 day old newborn on his side and his face against of the side of the bassinet.

I believe this product is designed to decrease safety and increase the risk of SIDS. This product has a lateral tilt that enables a newborn to 1) roll onto his/her side and 2) slide to the edge of bassinet. These two involuntary actions increases the risk of airway compression, suffocation, and even death. This product is not aligned to general bassinet safety precautions as outlined by American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), CDC, Maternal and Child Health Bureau, or the National Institutes of Health.

The product, in the report: https://www.venicechild.com/product-page/california-dreaming-portable-bed-side-crib Bedside bassinet

A family bought the Venice Child bassinet from our Amazon registry (https://www.venicechild.com/product-page/california-dreaming-portable-bed-side-crib) for my newborn. The first night home from the hospital my son slept in the bassinet and I noticed he kept rolling to his left side. I would roll him to his back and he would roll again, every time. This did not happen in the hospital and being only 4 days old he should be rolling like this. He rolled so he was side lying with his face against the mesh fabric and this scared me. The next day my husband and father figured out that the bassinet was tilting and causing my son to roll. We placed a large water bottle in the bassinet and it rolled in the same fashion as my son every time. We determined that the adjustable height component had too much give/extra space and was causing the bassinet to tilt. This was not a component that we as a consumer had to put together in the assemble and the fault component was pre-assembled for the consumer therefore I doubt consumer error was the reason for this concern. We used a level and the bubble was outside of the lines, indicating the bassinet was not a level flat firm surface which is required for safe sleep. Realizing the product was unsafe we returned it to Venice Child and had a horrible experience with their customer service not acknowledging the product was unsafe. We wrote a long negative review on Amazon and emailed Venice Child directly. The product is still for sale and there are multiple other negative reviews on Amazon for the same problem. The multiple other reviews again indicate it is likely not a consumer user error but manufacturing error. I feel lucky that no injuries occurred in the first night and I also feel fortunate enough to know that my son rolling was not him being advanced but rather the result of an unsafe product.
