The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Fisher price rock and play sleeper gentle comfortable soft fabric with flowers. No music or vibrations just the standard rock and play

My daughter is 5 months old. The doctor recommended purchasing the fisher price “rock and play sleeper” when she was first born due to having severe reflux. Until last Friday May 9th, 2014 the product worked great. She slept in it every night and took her naps in it due to still having reflux and needed to be inclined. At her 6 month doctors appointment we were to discuss moving her to a crib or [REDACTED] now that she is bigger and starting to out grow the rock and play but not yet able to sit up and is only 14lbs. Friday we put her down for her nap like we normally do. Buckled her in to the rock and play, turned on the monitor, and went downstairs. About 5 minutes later we hear this awful screaming coming from our daughter upstairs. I run upstairs to find her on the floor and the rock and play still standing. I grabbed her, checked her for injures and rushed her to the nearest emergency room (Carroll County Hospital). Once there we tried to explain how it was possible that she was on the floor after being buckled in to the rock and play. The doctor checked her and found the strap marks on her legs and came to the conclusion that she must of pushed herself up (which she has never done before and can not sit up yet) and it rocked forward and when it rocked forward it flipped her out and she ended up on the floor. She was checked over had tests done and just ended up with a giant knot on her head, some nasty bruises but luckily nothing life threading or sever and was discharged. Before leaving the doctor asked me what kind of buckle it had and I explained only a waist buckle which was how she was able to fall out of this product. There is a warning clearing labeled on the product but it states don’t use once child can sit or push up or after they reach 25 lbs so until this we were no concerned because she wasn’t able to do any of the things listed and only weighs 14lbs. I later checked the website for any recalls or other incidents of this and only saw the one about possible mold. I know that normally infants are not still using this product at 5 months old but I’m sure we are not the only one and it scares me to think this could happen to someone else’s child and could be much more serious. The product should be made with a shoulder strap since it does rock and this is a possible issue. We will never put her back in the rock and play and I hope something is done before someone else’s child isn’t hurt as well.

The product, in the report: Fisher Price Rock N Play Sleeper

I noticed today the Fisher Price Rock N Play Sleeper was recalled due to mold. This is not the only reason this product should be recalled. My daughter and my sister’s son both used the product from the day they were taken home from the hospital (my daughter was born on [REDACTED] and my nephew was born on [REDACTED]). After about three months or so both of our children were having issues. My daughter was diagnosed with torticollis and my nephew with “flat head syndrome”. Upon us both researching these issues separately we both found my similar cases where this product either caused “flat head syndrome” or torticollis in babies. Since then I have not used this product and neither has my sister. My daughter continues to be in physical therapy for her torticollis. I have contacted Fisher Price about this issue but they have pretty much been unresponsive to my complaints. The fact that they are numerous complaints and stories just like mine is not a coincidence. This product should be recalled for more than just a mold issue!!
