  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Oct 18, 2023, sent to the company Oct 24, 2023, published by CPSC Nov 15, 2023

The product, in the report: Lulyboo- Bassinet to go metro, gray with dangling plush toys

Recently saw this product for re-sale on a yard sale site. Its packaging said that it was a “bassinet” which implies that it is a safe sleep surface. This type of advertising is banned by the Safe Sleep For Babies Act of 2021, if the company has re-branded to be in compliance with the Safe Sleep For Babies act, they need to issue a recall of all there previous misleading packaging because they’re still very much being sold on the re-sale market putting babies lives in danger.

  2. No one hurt

Made Jun 12, 2021, sent to the company Jul 22, 2021, published by CPSC Aug 5, 2021

The product, in the report: The product is an infant lounger, available in a variety several colors, with or without polka-dots and with or without a canopy.

I was looking at different types of sleep spaces and came across this product. Injuries or death is bound to happen if it hasn’t already.

Report Update: Risk of harm of this product is it is falsely identifying itself as safe for sleep. Consumers may be unknowingly allowing their child to sleep in an unregulated product which could cause suffocation and/or positional asphyxiation. The Lulyboo’s product manual describes it as a “bassinet” and test reports claim it has passed test requirements for ASTM F2194-13 (photo attached).

The product, in the report: Lulyboo baby bassinet - soft foldable bassinet with short walls

Have not personally used product, but saw it advertised as a bassinet and safe sleep product, despite not meeting safety standards for bassinets.

  4. Death

Made Aug 10, 2020, sent to the company Aug 21, 2020, published by CPSC Sep 23, 2020

The product, in the report: This is a soft fabric bed advertised as a co-sleeper or portable bassinet. It is collapsible, and essentially resembles one large crib bumper to contain a sleeping infant.

I am a child fatality reviewer for my states Medical Examiner’s office. We recently had a death in a “Lulyboo portable bassinet”. I believe this product, (and countless others on the market) are inherently unsafe. We know promoting co-sleeping increases the risk of sleep related death. This product is essentially a giant crib bumper-which are banned due to the high risk of sleep related death. Furthermore this product is designed to be placed on an unsafe soft sleep surface such as an adult mattress.

I do not know if this product comes with any warnings or labels, however, again, as its construction mimics that of a device already banned for use and sale due to the high risk of death, there is no safe way to use this (or any) co-sleeper.

The product, in the report: The products are name “bassinet” but do not meet the applicable standard

I did not purchase this product; however the manufacturer calls it a “bassinet” on their website. When I emailed them for confirmation that it meets the bassinet standard 16 CFR Part 1218, I was advised that it does not. As such, they are using a protected term for a product that has not met the standard.
