  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Apr 19, 2019, sent to the company Jul 11, 2019, published by CPSC Jul 25, 2019

The product, in the report: Bassinet

The consumer said that the fitted sheet is a waterproof sheet and air bubbles can develop, which causes some areas of the sheets to be higher than others and presents a hazard to babies.

Additionally, the sheet is not thin like a normal bed sheet. It is quite thick, with a waterproof backing, making it even thicker. The sheet fits the mattress on the edges, but then the middle creates a bubble that cannot be flattened, even if the sheet is pulled tighter around the edges of the mattress. The mattress also folds in 3 parts (long ways), so it is very difficult to get the mattress to lay flat, however even when the mattress is flat, the sheet still is not flush with the mattress surface.

The consumer reported her concerns to the firm and their rep. (name [REDACTED]) verbally told her that in addition, the product is being sold as a bassinet, which is a regulated item, however is not safe for overnight sleep.

The consumer did not use the product because of how uncomfortable it made her. There were no injuries.

Hi [REDACTED], Thank you for your email, below are my responses. 1. May we have your mailing address and phone number?: [REDACTED]

    2. You indicated that the fitted sheet “can buckle.” Do you believe that the fitted sheet is oversized or do the edges of the fitted sheet slip off. We are not clear, when you say that a sheet can buckle. Also with the fitted sheet being made of fabric, I’m not clear as to how it holds an air bubble: The fitted sheet is a waterproof sheet, it is not thin like a normal bed sheet. It is quite thick, with a waterproof backing, making it even thicker. The sheet fits the mattress on the edges, but then the middle creates a bubble that cannot be flattened, even if the sheet is pulled tighter around the edges of the mattress. The mattress also folds in 3 parts (longways), so it is very difficult to get the mattress to lay flat, however even when the mattress IS flat, the sheet still is not flush with the mattress surface.

    3. Lastly, the firm’s rep. verbally told you that the product is not recommended for overnight sleep. Therefore, would this be the 2nd part of your complaint?: Correct--2 issues here, 1 is the sheet bubbling, and the 2nd is being sold as a bassinet, but being told that the product is not rated for overnight sleep.

    4. Approximately how long ago was the product purchased and where was it purchased from?: It was purchased in the fall of 2018 from Buy Buy Baby.

    5. Has your child/children sustained any injuries as a result of the use of this product: No, I did not use the product because of how uncomfortable it made me.
