The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Aug 19, 2016, sent to the company Sep 20, 2016, published by CPSC Oct 12, 2016

The product, in the report: Eddie Bauer Musical Rocking Bassinet Model 10330

Bassinet does not have any latch at the bottom to hold it steady. If my baby is ever so slightly off-center, the bassinet tips to that side even though it is in the locked position on both ends. This caused my baby to end up wedged in the corner with his face in the side. It happened more than once. I have read many many reviews of people claiming the same thing. It is a very dangerous bassinet. The locks at the top of each end are completely inadequate. It is NOT one of the models already recalled. This model had NO safety lock at the bottom to keep it from swinging.

The product, in the report: Eddie Bauer rock and play sleeper. Colors are blue, grey and white.

As I went to lay my son in his rock and play sleeper I noticed a mass amount of mold growing under the lining in his bassinet.

  3. No one hurt

Made Feb 6, 2013, sent to the company Feb 14, 2013, published by CPSC Mar 1, 2013

The product, in the report: This recall involves Eddie Bauer Rocking Wood Bassinets. The bassinets have a dark brown wooden headboard and footboard and a cotton bassinet that comes in a variety of colors and patterns. “Eddie Bauer” is printed on a metal plate on the bassinet’s footboard. These bassinets have a dial at the base of the footboard that locks and unlocks the rocking motion of the bassinet. Recalled bassinets have the following model numbers: 10832, 10835, 10839

The bassinet lock/unlock mechanism was in the lock position but the bassinet rocked to the side and my 6 week old baby could not breath. I was afraid and did not use the bassinet and spoke with my aunt. My aunt checked the safeproducts.gov site and found the recall information. My aunt called Dorel Juvenile Group (877) 416-0165 and spoke with [redacted] who said “The repair kit will ship to you in 5-10 days.” My aunt requested overnight shipping. [redacted] said they do not use overnight shipping. My aunt requested to speak with a supervisor. [redacted] came back to the phone and since you are in Michigan and we are Indiana it should get to you sooner.Again my aunt requested to speak with a supervisor, again [redacted] came back to the phone and said that they will 2 day air ship the repair kit. My baby could have died and the Dorel Juvenile Group is only concerned about putting shipping money issues before the lives of children that parents have entrusted to use this bassinet. The American Pediatrics Association recommends that babys up to 1year of age sleep in the same room as the parent because it lowers the risk of SIDS.

  5. No one hurt

Made Dec 12, 2012, sent to the company Dec 28, 2012, published by CPSC Jan 14, 2013

The product, in the report: Eddie Bauer (Dorel) wooden basinette. Cherry wood color with neutral bedding colors.

I had an incident with the Eddie Bauer Basinette manufactured by Dorel that was recently recalled. My model number is 10639BXB and fits the description fo the basinetts recalled. When my daughter was between 1 and 4 weeks old we had several incidents where I had locked the basinette in place, but when I checked on her later the basinette was unlocked, had rolled slightly to the side, and she had rolled to one corner/edge of the basinette. She never suffered any injuries from the incidents but every time her face was right up against the cloth edge if she had rolled. I would move her back to the center of the basinette so that the air flow would not be restricted due to SIDS concerns/risk. At first I assumed this was my fault and that I had somehow not locked the basinette, but after it happened a few times I realized it was rocking to the side even after I had locked it.
