The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Sep 8, 2020, sent to the company Oct 5, 2020, published by CPSC Nov 10, 2020

The product, in the report: Squatty Potty White polar bear or dog step stool with a blue removable cap. It came with a toddler seat for on top of the toilet seat. It is the same as the item in the link, but a different color. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KGXWHGB/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_RkdwFbVCREDPA Product Dimensions : 14.25 x 14.5 x 12.5 inches; 2.5 Pounds Item model number : Multiple Uses Date First Available : December 3, 2018 Manufacturer : Squatty Potty LLC ASIN : B07KGXWHGB

The squatty potty toilet stool came with a child’s toilet seat, appropriate for a toddler. There is a removable cap on the top of the stool that makes the stool higher, for younger kids. My son fell when he stood up, and the cap disengaged. He fell into the side of the bathtub. We assumed we hadn’t had it attached correctly. The next time he used it, we verified it was seated correctly. Again, upon standing, the cap came loose, and he fell to the floor. When I contacted the company, I was told that they are no longer selling them with the cap, as they rework the design. They indicated that they recommend that people either don’t use the cap, or use zip ties (it doesn’t seem clear that this would fix the problem). However, I just purchased these as new products, one from Bed Bath and Beyond, and one from Amazon, within the last few weeks. I received no warning that these could be dangerous. The company did not seem properly concerned about this product, its availability, and its associated risks. This was especially concerning, when I saw they had a previous, very similar product recalled in 2017.
