The product, in the report: I couldn’t figure out what category this should go into. The product is the Prince Lionheart weePOD Basix toilet seat. We used the Gray color and the Blue color. It is a child’s toilet seat you put over a regular toilet seat to make it their size. Model Number: 7415
The Prince Lionheart brand weePOD Basix toilet seat caused my daughter severe rashes on the back of her thighs and buttocks. We have used this seat as directed over our regular toilet seats since my daughter potty trained. About a year ago she developed what we thought was an eczema rash. For the past almost year, we have been to numerous doctors, put her on numerous steroid creams and non steroid creams, spent countless amounts of money on new and different lotions and soaps all to no effect. She had been tested for bacteria, fungus, and virus and all came back negative. At the worst, she had over a dozen open sores and scabs from the rash and all the scratching and itching and pain that it caused her. The dermatologist had suggested a biopsy when it dawned on me while she used the bathroom one day that all of these spots were where her skin touched her toilet seat. We immediately got rid of the toilet seats and over the past two weeks her legs have almost completely healed. She still has skin discoloration where she had sore for so long that will take some time to go away.
While searching the internet (“Contact Dermatitis Prince Lionheart”) we came across numerous Amazon reviews for the exact same product of other people whose children developed rashes after using this toilet seat. We also came across an article of a child in the U.K. Who was taken to the hospital because of her rash from this product and this article shows that the company knows about this issue.
We want this product recalled due to the risk of severe rash it poses, so we can protect other people from going through what we went through and so those who are going through it now can get an answer and stop their child’s suffering.
