Emergency room Made Aug 14, 2026, sent to the company Aug 18, 2026, published by CPSC Sep 2, 2026
The product, in the report: It is a small toilet insert for toddlers learning to be toilet trained. On Baby Bjorn’s website, it is named a “Toilet Training Seat.” On amazon, it is referred to as a toilet trainer.
Last night (8/13/26), my three-year-old son was using a Baby Bjorn toilet trainer (toilet insert). When he removed himself from the toilet, his penis was significantly sliced by the sharp edge of the toilet insert. This injury resulted in a emergency room visit and visit from a urologist, resulting in 4 stitches and possibly permanent bodily damage.

First aid Made Aug 14, 2026, sent to the company Aug 18, 2026, published by CPSC Sep 10, 2026
The product, in the report: BabyBjorn Potty Chair
My 4 year old daughter was trying to sit down normally on a BabyBjrn potty. As she was lowering herself onto the seat, she tipped slightly and came down hard onto the raised rigid plastic portion at the front of the potty.
The impact was directly to her genital and bottom area and caused immediate significant pain and visible redness.
The potty did not break or visibly malfunction. My concern is with the design of the raised, hard plastic front portion of the potty and the potential for injury if a young child is even slightly misaligned while sitting down. A small loss of balance or positioning error is foreseeable for a child using a potty independently, and in this instance it resulted in an injury.
I am reporting this incident because I am concerned that the shape, height, rigidity, and placement of the front plastic portion may present an injury hazard to other young children using the product.
