  1. No one hurt

Made Jun 26, 2014, sent to the company Jul 9, 2014, published by CPSC Jul 23, 2014

The product, in the report: Patriot Candles (tm) Wall Warmer - Plug-in warmer perfect for fragrance wall melts - Beige ceramic tart melter that plugs into the wall like a night light using an included light bulb as a heat source. The base which plugs into the wall is white and plastic with an on/off switch, the upper portions are ceramic including the tray on top to hold the wax which is gravity supported.

Last week, we purchased a “Wall Warmer” tart warmer by Patriot Candles which is designed to plug into an electrical outlet much light a night light, has a ceramic cover that latches into the base, and a tray for the wax of a candle tart to melt into. It was used for two days, roughly 8 hours total operation, on the second day after 3 hours of usage, I noticed that the tray was not level on top. When I went to check if it was fully plugged into the outlet, the ceramic cover came off with no effort as if it was just balancing on it. I turned off the device, removed it from the wall, and allowed the components to cool separately as they operate around 160-180 degrees. The plastic on the portion that plugs into the wall was melting around the base collapsing inward to where the portion that should latch onto the ceramic cover were directed upwards and no longer offering support. Further use would have fully lost the “balance” that was holding it upright projecting hot ceramics and melted wax to anyone near it.

The product, in the report: Patriot Candle night light fragrance wax melt. Has red glass that holds the fragrance wax and white plastic base that plugs into an outlet. Purchased at Walgreens Drug Store. Product requires one small 15 WATT night light sized light bulb that is included in the package.

I purchased a Patriot Candle night light wax fragrance warmer at Walgreens a couple of weeks ago. It was working exactly like it was supposed to until I noticed that the glass part of the wax holder was sitting sideways on the nightlight. After further examining the product I noticed that part of the plastic on the plug that holds the light bulb was melted and was black (the original color of the light bulb holder was white). It was melted so badly that if I would of not discovered it there would of been a fire! I read all instructions that came with this product before using it and used it in the manner that it was intended for, I did not modify anything or use it in an inappropriate manner. The light bulb that was in it was the 15 watt bulb that came with the product. Nothing else was plugged into the outlet and the outlet was not damaged from the warmer melting.
