  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Jul 31, 2026, sent to the company Aug 6, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 20, 2026

The product, in the report: product name: 3D Cotton Thundercloud LED Light, DIY RGB+IC Chasing Ceiling Cloud LED Lights for Room Decor 17ft It is Kids Bedroom Night Light

I bought this night light to hlp my young daughter fall asleep in her bedroom. The very first night we used it, the light got extremely hot to the touch almost immediately after plugging it in. The next night, we turned it on again and the light started flashing crazy. A second later, it literally started throwing sparks! We were terrified and unplugged it right away before a fire could start. When we took it down, we noticed there are no safety labels, no certifications, no model numbers, and the internal parts look super cheap and dangerous. This light was meant to run while a child sleep! if we hadnt been right there when it sparked, it could have set her room on fire. This product is unsafe, has no safety certification, and needs to be pulled from the market immediately before a child gets hurt.

Physical inspection of the removed unit revealed extremely low grade internal components, lack of thermal safety protections, and a complete absence of safety certification marks or manufacturer traceability info.

We recently purchased a childrens night light on amazon, and what happened is honestly terrifying. Within less than 30 minutes of plugging it in, we noticed a strong burning smell. When we checked, the entire light had overheated and started melting. I cant even begin to imagine what could have happened if this occurred in the middle of the night while our two kids were asleep in their room. This is not just a defective product!!its a serious safety hazard that could have led to a fire or something much worse. Our whole family was shaken and couldnt sleep after this incident.
