The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Meridian LED Flower Power auto on when dark night light Item #10267 UPC 8 75638 00192 3 Rated 120v 60Hz 0.5w max designed in St. Louis, MO by Meridian Electric Co. Made in China by Meridian Electric Co. Marilyn Heights, MO 63043

Purchased a Meridian LED “Flower Power” auto on when dark-night light Item #10267 UPC 8 7563800192 3 on June 7, 2014. Took home plugged it in to see how it looked before putting it in the children’s room. As soon as we plugged it into the electric outlet the base exploded shooting electricity out and popping the base off and plug part was still in the wall. It burned up the night light and the wall plug. The circuit breaker thank goodness worked and killed the power to the outlet. I will have to replace the outlet as well now. The outlet was in perfect working order and has been used on a daily basis. We tried another night light also purchased same day and it was fine. I have photos of the night light after it exploded.

The product, in the report: Meridian Model Number 10241 LED Night light

About a month ago I purchased a set of night lights from Walmart. I have a whole bunch of these in my home and thought they would be perfect for my boat. Shortly after installing them they started to fail. I thought nothing of the first failure thinking it was an isolated issue. The housing of the night light showed signs of internal heat build up. On the left side of the light (as you look at it from the face) the housing was melted/warped. Then a few days later two more failed. This caused me to look further and found all four showing the same signs of internal heat build up. I bought them at Walmart in Bellingham, WA. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Meridian-10238-Meridian-Great-Value-4-Pack-LED-Automatic-Night-Light/26135731 the package of four is only sold in store. On the back of them, Meridian lighting for the future, Model 10241 certified to csa std c22 2no 256-05 conforms to ansi/ul std 1786 Please advise if you would like pictures of the housing or further information on the specific batch/etc.
