The product, in the report: EL ADI Aaron Design Inc. #99984 Night light
On the evening of 9-4-13 I was watching tv in the bedroom when the smoke/carbon dioxide alarm sounded in my kitchen. Upon entering the kitchen I found my night light was engulfed in flames. The night light is an EL ADI aaron designs #99984.I secured the power and removed the night light before the fire spread to the wall. No one was hurt in the incident but if I hadn’t been home I wouldn’t have a home this morning. I live off the grid and at the time of the incident the night light was plugged into a GFCI receptacle in the kitchen. I was powered at the time off a battery pack through a 1500 watt inverter. I am a master electrician licensed in the state of Maine, Lic# [REDACTED] so I can verify the correctness of my installation.

Hurt, no treatment Made Jul 29, 2013, sent to the company Aug 6, 2013, published by CPSC Aug 20, 2013
The product, in the report: EL-ADI (R) Aaron Designs Inc. LED Night Light, made in China. White base/plug with rectangular clear plastic vertically ridged light projection area/surface. (This report is being submitted with pictures of the product before and after the resulting fire. We bought several of the product for use throughout our home.)
While camping at Otsego Lake State Park, in Gaylord, Michigan, on 7/24/2013, an EL-ADI (R) Aaron Designs Inc. LED Night Light was plugged into a GFCI electrical outlet in our travel trailer for ambient lighting. The trailer was plugged into the Campground’s 30 amp service. At approximately 10:00 a.m., while we were outside the trailer, we heard smoke alarms and opened the door to find the trailer filled with black smoke and a small fire at the outlet with flames going up the wall. We grabbed the fire extinguisher and were able to quickly extinguished the fire. Apparently, the LED Night Light melted and subsequently caught fire, since melted plastic was all over the upholstery and dinette, but the fire was small. It also melted the GFCI outlet. After extinguishing the fire, we immediately unplugged everything and turned off all power. We assume we caught the fire just as it burst into flames, or when we opened the door it might have ignited more with oxygen entering the trailer. Everything was covered with black soot and we were coughing hard from smoke inhalation. Our nostrils and mouths were lined with carbon/black soot. Since the fire was quickly extinguished, the local fire company was not called and a report was not made. However, we reported the incident to the insurance company (Progressive) and they will be investigating the fire soon for further determination of the extent of damage and cause. We are just glad the fire happened while it was daytime and we were able to hear the smoke alarm. Minor smoke inhalation and irritation is minimal considering what would have happened if we were in the trailer sleeping.
