The product, in the report: Name: Blackburn Copilot Model “A” Bike Trailer by Bell.
The product is a bicycle trailer designed to carry two children.
I was riding my bicycle on a smooth asphalt roadway, towing the trailer at approximately 15 MPH. My two daughters, ages 3 and 4 were in the trailer. The righthand wheel axle on the trailer sheared off, resulting in the loss of the righthand trailer wheel. I briefly lost control of the bicycle / trailer rig, but was able to stop without injury to myself and children. Thankfully there was no traffic around me when this occurred.
The trailer had been well-maintained and had not been subject to misuse or abuse.
