The product, in the report: Storkcraft Santorini 5-in-1 Convertible crib with Bonus Toddler Guardrail in the color Sage/Driftwood. CRIB DIMENSIONS: Width (54.25 inches) x Depth (29.85 inches) x Height (35.83 inches).
I have a Storkcraft Santorini 5-in-1 Convertible crib and a [REDACTED] and Toddler Mattress. My baby just graduated to sleeping in the crib after learning to roll over so therefore the bassinet is no longer safe sleep. During her first night’s sleep on the night of August 13th, 2025, she rolled over and got her arm caught between the mattress and crib slats.
Thankfully she is room sharing with us so I woke up hearing her coughing after struggling to roll back over. I found her laying on her stomach with her right arm trapped under her and left arm between the mattress and slats. The next morning on August 14th, 2025 I noticed the mattress didn’t fit as snug as I believed it should. I pressed the mattress to the side and noticed just how large the gap is for her arm to fit. I did some research and found that the standard crib size, also known as a full-size crib, has interior dimensions of 28 inches in width by 52 3/8 inches in length, with a permissible variation of plus or minus 5/8 of an inch, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). This means a standard crib’s dimensions are typically within the range of 27 3/8” to 28 5/8” wide and 51 3/4” to 53” long.
The Wayfair listing for this crib continuously states that it is a STANDARD size crib, that it will safely fit any standard size mattress, and it meets or exceeds ATSM and CPSIA standards. However, the dimensions of the product state it is “ CRIB DIMENSIONS: Width (54.25 inches) x Depth (29.85 inches) x Height (35.83 inches).”
This means that the crib dimensions are a full 1.25 inches TOO LONG and 1.23 inches TOO WIDE. This much extra space leaves gaps around a standard crib mattress and poses a suffocation risk. My baby got stuck but I thankfully got to her BEFORE she tired of trying to free herself and something worse happened.
The wayfair listing also states it’s designed to fit any standard crib or toddler mattress but that is simply untrue because every mattress I have found (including the [REDACTED] ones they suggest, and the [REDACTED] one I have) fall within the dimension guidelines for safety so EVERY SINGLE MATTRESS will be TOO SMALL for this crib!
Length gap: ~0.94 per end Width gap: ~0.93 per side
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says any gap bigger than 2 fingers (about 1 inch) between the mattress and crib frame is unsafe. This crib would have just under an inch of space per side if the mattress stayed firmly in the center of the crib, which is right at the danger threshold - but it does NOT and the movements of baby easily moves the mattress further to one side over the other making a gap on one side over 1 inch and nearly TWO inches.
I’ll be pursuing a full refund, replacement, and pushing for an immediate recall of this unsafe crib.
