Sling was blue with cotton fabric and polyester batting. On the packaging, it stated www.rosadosling.com, The Rosado Sling, for infants and toddlers, For a greater bond between caregiver & child. Cotton Fabric, Polyester Batting. Fabric Care: Wash Cold, Hang dry. With the sizes that I listed above. No instructions nor warnings on both the packaging or on the sling itself.
On November 26, 2008, I purchased The Rosado Sling at The Toy Box located in Brooklyn, New York. The sling came in XS, S, M, ML, L and XL. I purchased a Medium. I placed my son in the sling shortly after his well baby visit where the pediatrician gave him a clean bill of health. He was positioned near my breast with his head up. I was able to look down and see his face. During about a 4 hour time frame, I fed him, changed his diaper, family and some friends held him and went to some local stores. However, as I was online at a local chain restaurant, I looked down and he was pale. I immediately rushed him to the nearest ER where they ran all types of tests. He was in the hospital for 30 days due to lack of controlled body temperature but wasn’t able to suck and placed him on seizure medication.
My son is currently 3 years old and has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He is not able to sit on his own, stand on his own, crawl, walk or talk. He is receiving Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. He is currently being seen by a neurologist, orthopedist as well as additional specialists.
I hope that The Rosado Sling will not be used since it was a tragic incident that has caused my son’s current injuries.
