The product, in the report: Vulli Chan Pie Blue Baby Teether
I purchased the “Vulli Chan Pie Blue Baby Teether” in August, 2015 for my then 3.5 month old daughter. She just turned 10 months old today.
We have spent the last 72 hours extremely worried for her health and well-being, as this teething toy has allowed for the top part of it to be bitten off and swallowed by my baby. Her doctor says that it could cause a bowel obstruction, which could require a major surgery to correct. No part of a baby’s teething toy should be capable of being bitten off by a teething baby. She doesn’t even have top teeth yet.

The product, in the report: Teething Toy
My 5 1/2 month old, who has no teeth, was chewing on the Pie Teether (Looks like an alien, is pink) made by Vulli. It is described as a teething toy for 0m and up. On top of its head it had to round antenna/nubs. While chewing, one of the nubs broke off into her mouth. I happened to be sitting right next to her when it happened, and got it away from her. Upon inspection of the toy, i found that they other antenna/nub was on its way to tearing off as well. The object in question would appear to be a choking hazard. The toy in question was used less than 6 months. i can provide the toy and or pictures if needed.

The product, in the report: Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether
I received a Sophie the Giraffe as a gift for my baby. I noticed that my son who is just beginning to teethe bit off a rubber piece of the giraffe’s ear and I saw it in his mouth. I took the rubber piece out of his mouth before he swallowed it. There is now a hole on the tip of the giraffe’s ear. This is a horrible choking hazard.

No one hurt Made Mar 8, 2014, sent to the company Mar 18, 2014, published by CPSC Apr 1, 2014
The product, in the report: Popular giraffe-shaped teether toy made out of rubber. Squeaks when squeezed. Has four legs that are unsafe for babies to put in their mouth and can become lodged in the babies throat.
Baby was playing with Sophie teether while on her tummy. Baby was chewing on the teether’s leg and laid her head on the ground. As her head went to the ground, the leg became lodged in her throat and she began gagging and choking. I had to run over to her to dislodge the leg. It was so far down her throat that I don’t believe she would have been able to dislodge the leg on her own.

The product, in the report: Made of 100% natural rubber and food paint, the BPA- and phthalate-free Sophie is soothing and safe for your teething baby. Sophie’s unique design, pattern and texture stimulate all of your baby’s senses during playtime. She makes a happy sound when squeezed, stimulating hearing and helping your baby understand the link between cause and effect. Height: 7” (18 cm)
EMAIL SENT TO VULLI OF THE INCIDENT Today my 5 month old daughter rolled on top of her Sophie the Giraffe toy and the front leg became lodged in her throat. Her mouth turned blue/purple and she vomited a bit as she choked on the toy. When I rushed over and picked her up from the face-first position, the giraffe was sticking straight out of her blue mouth. I pulled the giraffe out and attempted to soothe her as she gasped to catch her breath. She seemed ok once she caught her breath, but as it was a pretty traumatic experience for both of us, my husband and I drove her directly to the ER. Her oxygen levels were normal at this point, but her throat was red from the leg being lodged and then pulled out. This was so terrifying. I have been a basket case all day. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE warn and be warned, as the soft, pliable, chewable rubber was easily lodged quite far down her throat with the weight and force of her simply rolling onto it face first.

The product, in the report: Sophie the giraffe teether http://sophiethegiraffe.com/
My daughter is 5 months old and was playing with a “Sophie the giraffe” by Vulli. When I next looked over a leg was lodged in her throat and her airway was completely blocked. She could not have pulled it out. It took a good pull to get it out of her throat. Had I been in the shower he would have died. I have contacted the company and have had no reply. It is my hope there is a recal or, at minimum, a very strong warning of the choking hazard. Please help before a baby dies.

The product, in the report: Vulli Vanilla Flavored Teething ring
Our daughter got her thumb stuck past the knuckle in the small opening under the elephant. By the time we realized what had happened her thumb had turned purple and it took soapy water to remove the teether from her thumb.

No one hurt Made Jul 23, 2012, sent to the company Aug 10, 2012, published by CPSC Aug 24, 2012
The product, in the report: Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether. 1 x 4 x 7 inches ; 2.9 ounces. Natural rubber. This particular one came in a gift set with a stuffed animal version of Sophie.
I had received a Vulli Sophie the Giraffe teether for my son off my gift registry. He was about 5 and a half months old and was lying on his stomach, chewing on the toy. I heard a gurgling noise and looked down and saw that he had shoved the front leg of the giraffe so far back in his throat that it caused him to vomit. I immediately pulled the giraffe out of his mouth and took it away. Further research showed many similar reports on the internet, as well as reports of the leg actually blocking babies’ airways.

We will be disposing of her teether immediately. I have read many reviews of this product & found many other similar situations, had I only been aware I would have returned this gift & never allowed my daughter to use it.
