  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Apr 12, 2026, sent to the company Apr 14, 2026, published by CPSC Apr 28, 2026

The product, in the report: Plush unicorn infant teether toy with a white and pink body and embroidered face. The toy has multiple attached textured teether pieces in bright colors including purple pink yellow and green. The center of the toy says lil dreamer. The toy also includes crinkle material and a soft plush exterior designed for babies to chew and hold.

This report is for a Playtex Baby Unicorn Plush Teether Rattle Lil Dreamer intended for infants. My infant daughter was using the product as intended by chewing on the teether portions.

During normal use the painted or coated areas on the teether began to wear off and peel. Small pieces of the coating are coming off during chewing. This creates a potential choking and ingestion hazard as an infant could swallow the flakes.

No injury has occurred but the product is being used as intended and is degrading in a way that could be dangerous for a baby.

The product was purchased through an online marketplace Mercari. This issue was noticed during regular use at home.
