The product, in the report: Nuby Pacifinder fabric clips, pacifier clip

My 9 month old managed to unclip the Nuby Pacifinder clip from his shirt and put the clip in his mouth. Then as I went to reach for it I saw him press down on the clip and it snapped on his tongue. His tongue bled just a little bit and he cried for a while. It could have been much worse. The plastic clip sides have very sharp pointy edges and it is clearly not safe to have near a baby.

The product, in the report: Nube Silicone Baby Teether toy Blue octopus with colorful cords as tentacles with balls at the end of it. Silicone 9.45 Inches (H) x 8.46 Inches (W) x 9.84 Inches (D)

My infant was using the Nuby Octopus Silicone Baby Teether Toy when one of the silicone tentacles with a ball at the end went deep into her mouth and caused a choking incident. The design allows the end piece to reach far enough into the mouth to create a choking hazard. I had to quickly remove it. This product is marketed for babies, but poses a serious safety risk.

The product, in the report: Infant teething toy made of plastic and soft silicone. The toy consists of a circular plastic handle with attached textured silicone shapes intended for teething. The handle is blue with white dots, and the attached pieces are various bright colors (red, yellow, teal). The toy is designed for babies to hold and chew. Exact dimensions are unknown, but the toy is small enough for an infant to hold with one hand. The flexibility and shape allowed the toy to enter the childs mouth in a way that caused it to become lodged in her throat.

My child was using a teething toy as intended when the toy became lodged in her throat. The toy was being used for teething and oral exploration under supervision. At one point, the toy entered her mouth in a way that caused it to become stuck in her throat, creating a choking hazard. I had to manually remove the toy from her throat. Fortunately, no emergency medical treatment was required, but the situation was very frightening and could have resulted in serious injury. The toy appears to be marketed for infants/teething, yet its size, shape, and flexibility allowed it to become lodged in my childs throat. I am reporting this incident due to concerns about the safety of this product and the potential risk to other children.

The product, in the report: Nûby Geo Zoo Giraffe Teether

My 4 month old was chewing on his Nûby Geo Zoo Giraffe Teether when I heard him gagging. I turn and see him continue to gag, and he had managed to get the head and mane of the giraffe stuck in the back of his throat, and couldnt get it out. I had to pull it out of his mouth, and I then realized what a choking hazard this product truly is. The tail could also become wedged, as it is long enough to reach the back of the throat. Thank God I was right there when this happened!

The product, in the report: Nuby Tag-A-Long Teether - “Gray” (gray, teal, natural wood)

We bought a Nuby teething toy as a Christmas present for our baby (5.5 months at the time) and used it less than a week. It broke in her hands and we found her holding one of the beads, which as a parent was terrifying as it was a perfect choking hazard. We only ever rinsed this toy with water (total of maybe twice since it was so new), no harsh treatment with soaps, heat, or chemicals. I’m horrified this fell apart and became a choking hazard so quickly and easily.

The product, in the report: Nuby Bug-a-Loop Soothing Teether with soothing nubs and multiple surfaces

On August 30, 2017 I purchased the Nuby Bug-a-Loop Soothing Teether at our local grocery market, HEB located at 2000 RR 620, Lakeway, Texas. After giving it to my granddaughter of 8 months because she is teething, within less than one minute of her handling the teether, she began crying as if she was hurt. I had her in my lap and I know I had not done anything to hurt her, so I began trying to figure out what was hurting her. She began crying more loudly, when I discovered her small finger had been pinched in between the “nubs”.

Upon closer inspection of the Nuby Bug-a-Loop Soothing Teether, I found that the 20 “nubs” are held together by a silk cord and has at least 20 places that could very easily pinch an infant’s small fingers while in their possession. Needless to say this product has a defective design and should NOT be sold as a teether for 3+ month old infants. Even with “adult supervision” the soothing teether will pinch.

Additionally, I have filed a report of this product with the Consumer Product Safety Commission on 9/3/17 which included your company’s information.

Fortunately for us, we’ve been teaching our son to hand us things so he said “take it” to my husband & it was a yellow, rubber cover to one of the teether keys. A piece like that is surely a major choke hazard & very scary for us.

We were all sitting and watching tv together when we heard him gagging and then profusly coughing from having the teether shoved in his mouth to far and causing him to vomit. Having read other reports I already know you will say that it is no fault of the company and your engineers checked it over and meets guidelines.. i suggest you alter the toy regardless because it is gagging and choking kids and its a matter of just time until you have a fatal accident. hopefully you start caring about these children you product you toys for and listen to concerned parents who im sure, like myself wont be purchasing another nuby toy for safety reasons!

The product, in the report: Teething ring

I am a nanny, and my charge, 10 months old, chewed through one of the plastic (?) beads on the Nuby Bug-a-Loop teether. Her front bottom and top teeth chewed distinct, deep marks in the large rubbery bead, and had I not noticed immediately, would have easily chewed through it and had a rubber/plastic piece of the teether in her mouth. This is very concerning on many levels, but the bottom line is that it is marketed as a TEETHER, meaning it’s meant to be chewed on, and in the mouths of babies. I am disturbed, concerned, and angry that my charge, or any child, could ingest or choke on this product. It is NOT safe.

The product, in the report: Nuby teether. Translucent silicone teether. Has mouth piece with bristles attached at one end. Round loop at the other. Nuby teether. The model number is 620.

My 6.5 month old son was standing in his [REDACTED] chewing on his teething ring.  I walked into the kitchen and heard an odd noise. I turned around in time to see him gagging with the full teether in his mouth and him sputtering vomit overflowing past the teether onto his [REDACTED] tray. His eyes watery and bulging, arms flailing with panic in his face going red. I made it to him after a few seconds pushing my daughter out of the way tripping on the cat and a few toys. I pulled it out of his mouth. Cleared his mouth and nose. He was pretty shaken up as was my daughter after watching it and being moved aside but in a few minutes I was able to settle them both.

He seemed to have a wet cough that developed immediately following the incident. It lasted 3 days and has self resolved.

The product, in the report: “Teething Blankie” - Crinkly blanket with four plastic corners for teething

I purchased a Nuby Teething Blankie for my grandchild. Upon inspection, I discovered that the plastic corners have small pieces of the plastic that are crumbling off. This occurs along the seam, where the main cloth section is sewn into the plastic corners. While the pieces of plastic that come off are quite small, they would easily be ingested by any child who was biting on the corners. Some small pieces came off in my hand, so I did NOT give this to my grandchild.

Furthermore, this concerns me about the long term integrity of the seams. If enough plastic breaks in these areas, the seams could potentially no longer hold together and the plastic end pieces could come off, representing a choking hazard.

    Attn: Product Safety Dept.

My name is [REDACTED], mother of (5 month old) [REDACTED] who was injured using the following Nuby brand product, “Bug a loop teether”. My son [REDACTED] has two bruised cheeks due to the Nuby brand product, “Bug a loop teether” (pictures enclosed). On Tuesday evening, January 31,2012, I noticed the bruising after my son was using the “Bug a loop teether” most of the day. I called the doctors and made an appointment for Wednesday morning, February 1,2012. The doctor ([REDACTED], Woburn, MA) agreed that the bruises were symmetrical to the teething ring. This product should be taken off the shelves before it injures another infant. I have already contacted Nuby, Inc, and I hope they will take this matter seriously and recall ALL Nuby brand, “bug a loop teethers”.
