  1. Emergency room

Made Sep 15, 2021, sent to the company Sep 16, 2021, published by CPSC Sep 30, 2021

The product, in the report: Chicco PhysioForma 100% Soft Silicone One Piece Pacifier for Babies 16-24m, Teal, Orthodontic Nipple, BPA free, 2 count in Sterilizing Case, 2.5 x 2 x 1.7 ins. 2.4 ounces Model 000027132000070

My grandson was using the Chicco PhysioForma 100% Soft Silicone One Piece Pacifier for Babies 16-24m, Teal Orthodontic Nipple at bedtime. He was able to put his index finger through one of the ventilation holes around the nipple all the way on his finger. It remained there 11 hours before it was discovered. He was in severe pain even after we removed it. He was taken to the ER after it continued to swell and blisters appeared. Days later, he was taken to Children’s Hospital after it wasn’t healing and was kept there overnight to treat the infection the injury caused.

The product, in the report: Chicco physioforma 100% soft silicone one piece pacifier

My 19 month old son got his finger stuck inside the hole of the pacifier sometime during the night. He awoke in pain, and I removed the stuck pacifier from his finger. His fingertip was totally white and shrunken. Once blood returned, his fingertip was painful and red for 2 days. He held it curled and didn’t use it functionally. His fingertip is still slightly more red than the others, nearly a week later.
