The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: CHEWBEADS BABY “WHERE’S THE PACIFIER?” CLIP http://www.chewbeads.com/Chewbeads_Baby_Where_s_the_Pacifier_Clip_p/pacifierclip.htm?1=1&CartID=0

1 year old got the “star” part of the holder unscrewed from the rest of it. There is a screw that mounts the “star” into holder. The screw came loose and the star came off and the screw was loose and would have been swallowed if we wouldn’t been in the room.

The product, in the report: Chewbeads pacifier clip- yellow, gray, & black rubber chew beads with gray rubber dinosaur on clip. Used to attached pacifier to baby’s clothes to prevent dropping/losing the pacifier.

I purchased the Chewbeads Pacifier Clip - Dinosaur sold by Maison Baby on Amazon on 2/15/15. It shipped on 2/16/15. On 4/12/15 the plastic part broke, and I happened to notice my son playing with it. Thankfully he did not have a chance to get the rubber beads off before I took it away from him.

The product, in the report: Pacifier Clip

Monday, July 13th, 2015 this caller handed her 21 month old son his pacifier which was on a pacifier clip, however as he put the pacifier in his mouth with the clip still in the caller’s hand the beads broke apart and came loose.

The beads on this pacifier clip are approximately 1/8” in diameter (just a bit larger than a blueberry) although she was able to pick all of these beads up before her baby could get to them, she is reporting that if a baby was handed the pacifier with clip and it broke after the child had it in his/her possession it could result in a choking hazard. The consumer has pictures of this product but has disposed of the pacifier clip in the trash.

There are no injuries being reported

The caller contacted the manufacturer by email Tuesday, July 14th, 2015 but has not received a response yet.

The product, in the report: Chewbeads bracelet for teething infants.

While chewing on the chew bead bracelet my granddaughter kept choking. When I checked the distance the beads could expand, I realized that the beads, when sucked on, allowed the string of elastic to reach her throat. I paid a lot for the bracelets and necklaces and was shocked that they did not take enough care to ensure the beads would not reach the back of a baby’s throat so far that they can begin to swallow the bead and choke until it is pulled out.

Luckily we do not leave the baby alone and were with her. She pulled the bracelet out a few times on her own and I thought nothing of it until it got it stuck and she was having trouble getting it out and gagging on it and I pulled it out and she no longer plays with this dangerous item.

I examined the bracelet and found the knot that is tied in the elastic was also exposed. The elastic in the bracelet allows you to pull on one bead at a time and stretch the beads apart long enough to choke a child.
