  1. No one hurt

Made Jan 13, 2012, sent to the company Jan 24, 2012, published by CPSC Feb 14, 2012

The product, in the report: Born Free 6+ Months, Stage 2 Clear Pacifiers (Twin Pack) with handle

I was putting my 8 1/2 month old to bed last night and was checking his crib to see that his pacifier was still there from the nap he took earlier. When I looked, I saw that the handle of the pacifer was lying on the mattress next to the pacifier itself. My son had managed to remove the handle BY HIMSELF and could have choked on either piece. These pacifiers (Born Free 6+ Months, Stage 2 Clear Pacifiers (Twin Pack) with Handle) have been removed from rotation in our house - we will NOT be using them anymore.

The product, in the report: Born Free Gum Brush Teether, blue Can be chilled or frozen For children 6 months+ Made from soft chewy silicone http://www.diapers.com/p/born-free-teether-w-baby-toothbrush-80527

Noticed some of the small “bristles” on baby’s blue Born Free teether were missing. I brushed my hand over it and another one fell out. Baby loves chewing on this teether and has probably ingested missing bristles. I’m not sure whether or not that is safe (they are silicone) but I would assume this also could be a choking hazard.

This is a link to the product, which appears to have been discontinued: http://www.diapers.com/p/born-free-teether-w-baby-toothbrush-80527

I contacted Born Free / Summer Infant who have not addressed the situation. This was the response:

Thank you for contacting Summer Infant, I have asked the appropriate manager about this situation and he has confirmed that the product has passed ASTM Child Safety tests and is safe for your child. Thank you for your time and patience and have a great day.
