How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 5 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Nov 6, 2024, sent to the company Nov 13, 2024, published by CPSC Nov 27, 2024

The product, in the report: Bibs 6+ pacifier. Color blue.

Our 6-month-old choked on one of his Bibs pacifiers this evening. He was able to somehow get it wedged close to the back of his throat, he was visibly struggling to breathe and not making much noise. Something we wouldn’t have heard unless we were right next to him -- which luckily my husband was. He pulled the pacifier out and then my son threw up a bunch. I am concerned the shape of the pacifier is a choking hazard.

The product, in the report: BIBS pacifer. 0-6 months. Blue color.

BIBS pacifer was bitten in to two pieces by my 11-month old. No choking/injury occurred. Baby spit out piece, but would have choked if tried to swallow. Advocating for stronger advertisement of the replacement timeline for pacifiers (4-6 weeks according to BIBS website)

The product, in the report: Slate colored BIBS pacifier for 0-6 month olds

Upon giving my 3 month old his BIBS pacifier I noticed a large tear in the rubber, I squeezed the rubber and half of the rubber popped off. This pacifier is only 3 months old. If I had not looked at the pacifier before placing it in his mouth at nap time he could of choked and potentially died.

Made Jun 1, 2021, sent to the company Jun 4, 2021, published by CPSC Jun 21, 2021

The product, in the report: BIBS Baby Pacifier, BPA-Free , Natural Rubber, Made in Denmark It is a binky/pacifier used by babies to soothe themselves. Model CU110231

A pacifier (binky) was ripped apart by our 1 yea old baby who only has a few teeth. The latex was all over her bed and in both small and large pieces and could have been ingested. The pacifier is 2 months old from a reputable Danish company (BiBS) and was purchased directly from the BiBs Store on Amazon. The product was never cleaned with strange chemicals that could have decomposed it, was never left in direct sunlight (as it is only used to sleep with at night).

Looking at the recent reviews on Amazon’s website, this does not seem to be a one-off issue and other parents are reporting that the latex is unable to withstand a baby’s teeth. I am not sure if I can include links but here is the link and if you need to search for it try “Bibs Pacifer” in Amazon:

Please note I marked no injury below, we are monitoring her to see if she passes any latex or has signs of pain.
