No one hurt Made Aug 17, 2023, sent to the company Aug 21, 2023, published by CPSC Sep 5, 2023
The product, in the report: The product is the gb Pockit Air All Terrain Ultra Compact Lightweight Travel Stroller.
On July 2, 2023, I purchased the GB Pockit Air All-Terrain stroller from Amazon.com for $199.95. Today, I went to use it with my one-year old daughter and despite following the instructions and hearing the stroller click open and lock, it collapsed, she fell backwards, and hit her head. There was nothing on the back of the stroller to protect her head from the concrete. Thankfully, my daughter does not appear injured at this time, but this was an alarming incident, caused a lot of tears, and I never want to use this product again. I also want other parents to be warned about this apparent design flaw. A stroller should not collapse downwards causing a child to fall and hit their head under any circumstances.
I went on the manufacturer’s website to report the incident. Their online form requires an item number/serial number. The instructions say this should appear on the frame of the product. My product is not marked with a visible item number/serial number, so I have no mechanism of contacting the manufacture directly. I want a full refund of my purchase price. I also want the manufacturer to put a clear and unmistakable warning on the product, warning parents of the potential fall risk.

The product, in the report: GB Pockit Air All Terrain Stroller
Twice we put our 2 year old in this stroller with it fully engaged. We checked the locking system and checked that it was weight bearing. 2 year old is well under weight limit for product. On these two occasions the stroller collapsed underneath him, with him strapped in. The second time he fell backwards when it collapsed and hit the back of his head.

To whom it may concern,
Below is the email detailing the defect with their stroller, I sent the company GB an email to info@gbchildusa.com in regards to their GB Ellum Stroller on Sunday, 26 October 2014:
We recently purchased a brand new GB Ellum Stroller at Babies r’ Us at the Pearl City, Hawaii location on Saturday, 18 October. We saw the product online, read the reviews and decided to look at it in the store before we made a decision to purchase. We tested the GB Ellum and GB Zuzu floor models in the store both were great products. What we love about it, is it is light weight and compact especially when we travel to the mainland to visit family, which was great. It is a stylish and easy to maneuver. Out of the two products we choose the Ellum over the Zuzu. After a few days of using the Ellum my wife took the baby to his scheduled doctors appointment on Monday, 20 Oct, she was pushing the stroller with our 18 month son in the stroller she got to a curb which she had to lift the front of the stroller to get on the side walk. When she pushed down on the stroller handle to lift the front wheels the right side of the open and fold joint buckled/unlatched, the left side joint held straight. The stroller did not collapse on itself with the baby in, but my wife became concerned when the joint buckled. She straightened and locked to right side joint and continued to the hospital for their appointment. When I arrived home that evening she told me of what had happened to the stroller. So I investigated the issue, I pulled the stroller out from her vehicle and unfolded it into its full form, it opened and locked on the full open position with not problem. I then pushed the stroller to see if there was any issues and then applied pressure on the handles to replicate the problem, as soon as I added pressure the right side fold joint buckled, it clicked, and the right side of the stroller from folded a little. I straightened the right side again the joint locked in and added pressure to it again. Same issue the right side unlocks/unlatches. I tried to add more pressure on the left side to see if it does the same as the right side but it held straight and locked. I then got our baby to see if I it would unlock/unlatch if I pushed him to get on a side walk from the a curb. I pushed him up to a curb and as soon as I applied weight/pressure to the stroller handle to lift the front the right sided unlocked/unlatched. We then decided to take it back to the store that week. We took it back to the Babies r’us, Pearl City, Hawaii, on Wednesday, 22 Oct, I explained and showed the sales associate the issue and figured the one we bought was a defective item. So, we were able to exchange it for another stroller of the same kind from the sales floor. I asked if I could assemble it in the store which was fine with the associate because we did not have another stroller for our baby to use at that time. As soon as I finished re-assembling the new out-of-the-box GB Ellum stroller. I was doing a quick check to see everything worked I pushed and pulled the stroller to make sure it rolled and turned smoothly, opened and closed the canopy, folded and unfolded the stroller to make sure it folded and opened properly. I then decided to test the Fold joints and applied pressure to the stroller handles and the right side of the fold joint unlatched/unlocked/buckled again the left side held out fine. I then showed it to the associate to show her that I was not even putting that much pressure and she tried putting pressure and it did the same thing the right side unlatched/unlocked/buckled . She then said we had the option of choosing another stroller or getting the same one, we decided to check out strollers in the store but after test other strollers we still ended up wanting the Ellum, so we decided to try it out last time, I figured the last 2 strollers were just a few defective strollers. So we told the associate we want to try one more time, I picked the box this time and assembled the stroller. Yet again it does it again the right side joint unlatched/unlocked/buckled. It was then that we figured after 2 straight off the shelf in store strollers there is something wrong with your product not just a few. I asked the manger if they were going to report this to the manufacturer they said they will inform their higher ups, I took the initiative to inform your company directly. It is a brand new product on the market with only a few months on the shelf not sure if you have any other buyers report this issue. I asked the store if anyone else turned in the stroller with the same problems as ours and they said no, not since it was put on the shelf to go on sale, so we were the first. We love your product but as a concerned parent with a infant I felt that this should be addressed immediately, I will also send an email to the consumer product safety commission informing them of this defect on the stroller that it may collapse if a infant or child is in the stroller. We ended up purchasing your other product at babies r’ us the GB Zuzu it is also a great product, we have not had any issues so far since we exchanged it that Saturday. The one thing my wife and I have an issue with is comes with the cup holder option but the stroller did not come with a cup holder. It is the same light weight, compact, easy to maneuver, and stylish stroller as the Ellum, but is is no Ellum, if the issue gets resolved we might get the Ellum or another stroller which is better or the same as the Ellum. I hope this email helps in resolving any issues with your product and I am standing by to assist and answer any questions that you may have concerning the Ellum stroller. I can be contacted via cell phone [REDACTED] if you wish to speak to myself or my wife. Mahalo!
Respectfully,
[REDACTED]
