The product, in the report: Double Stroller Combi Twin Sport Model # 7769-136
We have a Combi Twin Sport Stroller. This stroller does NOT have a locking mechanism in the open position. This means that the stroller begins to fold and collapse WHILE the children are in it. This means that doing normal, everyday stroller activities become dangerous such as: - lifting up onto a curb - going down a curb - going into a bus, train, subway etc - getting off a bus, train, subway etc.
On several occasions, this stroller has collapsed closed with my 2 children inside while getting on and off a train. Obviously, this was very scary as train doors could close on you while you are struggling to get the stroller on or off when it’s collapsing and not rolling forward. When this happens, it becomes impossible to open the stroller back up to push forward by yourself and thus, strangers (or if you have someone with you) ends up having to struggle to get the stroller back open.
On one occasion, my son’s arm got trapped in the fold when it began to collapse when getting on the train.
In summary, this stroller should absolutely NOT be on the market the way that it is. A stroller that does not stay securely opened means that it is not safe to use when doing normal activities. This stroller design assume that you would only be using the stroller on a flat surface 100% of the time, which is not logical, nor practical. The reality is that there are many times when you must lift “up” or go “down...even if it’s as small as on or off a curb (which is maybe 6 inches), the stroller collapses and begins to close.
What does not make sense is that there are 2 latches on the side of the stroller that you have to lift up to close it. These are obviously not necessary as the stroller closes on its own.
We purchased this stroller several months ago as a replacement for a [REDACTED] that was broken by an airline. Because I have no use for a double in day-to-day, we really had not used it until our Disney trip at the beginning of February (we bought it as a replacement with the Disney trip in mind). So, the Disney trip was really the first time we were able to use it consistently and realized the hazards of this stroller.

No one hurt Made Sep 29, 2011, sent to the company Oct 7, 2011, published by CPSC Oct 24, 2011
The product, in the report: Combi mauve strolee
I buckled my daughter who is 11 months appprox. Weight 21 lbs properly into the stroller with the safety straps propperly adjusted etc .... I did not have hold of the stroller handles and my daughter reached forward while in the seated position and strapped in the stroller. Her body weight must have created an imbalance of the support provided as the stroller teetered on the front wheels and fell forward with my daughter in the stroller. I was able to catch the stroller before her face hit the ground. The brakes were not utilized at this time however this sort of accident must not result in a stationary position with a child in the stroller.
