The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Baby Jogger City Select. Two seats. Color is Onyx. 2013 model. item Weight 35 pounds Product Dimensions 30 x 21.5 x 11.2 inches I’ve tried several times to upload photos and documents and the add files program isn’t working.

We were participating in a local 5k when my son (who was sitting in the front seat of our City Select Double Jogger Stroller) placed his left index finger on top of the front wheel. His finger became trapped and he was unable to free his finger without the assistance of an adult. Even though we were able to free his finger in a matter of seconds, he sustained a serious 3rd degree burn on the underside of his left index finger. The burn runs along his entire finger.

Because of his burn we’ve had to see his pediatrician and our local burn unit at the University of Utah. He may have to have skin grafts and has been in a lot of pain and discomfort when he bends, moves, or uses his finger in anyway. He also cries whenever the burn is exposed. i.e. band aid has fallen off or been removed to re-clean and re-dress the burn. I have people, pictures, dates, and paperwork to verify everything. The City Select Double Jogger Stroller is unsafe for toddlers.

There needs to be a safety feature that covers the top of the front wheels so that children cannot place their finger(s) on top of the wheel and cause severe burns.

The product, in the report: Baby Jogger Car Seat Adaptor for City Select

We ordered a Baby Jogger City Select Stroller with Car-Seat attachments to connect our [REDACTED] car seats. Baby Jogger’s website indicates that the adapters work with [REDACTED] seats, as does the information enclosed in the packaging of the Car-Seat adapters.

I installed the adapters according to the instructions and the car seats seemed to fit - but not securely. I was concerned about the safety of the car seats in the adapters - and tried to research how to make it work.

Finally I called Baby Jogger who informed me that their adapters do not work with the [REDACTED] models (only the [REDACTED]). They advised it might not be safe to use them with [REDACTED].

Why does this mater to the CPSC? It sounds like I am more upset that I have to try to return two car seats. That’s true - but if you review the Baby Jogger website and enclosed packaging materials - there is no easy to find indication of the incompatibility and potential safety issue. There is a comment in the Baby Jogger FAQ page - but nothing in the product description that tells you about it, or recommends to call or check the FAQ’s. I think it’s possible that someone being less-attentive to detail could miss this issue - and be exposed to a safety issue with their babies.

Baby Jogger - especially in this case where they know there is a compatibility issue - should be compelled to clearly state it on their product information on their website and in the packing materials.

The product, in the report: City Select Baby Jogger Stroller - specifically the car seat adapter

This is a double-stroller which allows you to carry two children at one time. There is an adapter which is used to hold a child’s car seat for very young children who are not yet old enough to sit in the regular stroller seat.

We have owned this stroller for about 5 months since our 4 month old son was born. We also have a 19 month-old daughter.

Yesterday my wife had both children in the stroller with my son strapped into his car seat and the car seat strapped into the stroller’s adapter.

As she was walking through a parking lot, the car seat adapter broke in two and my son’s car seat tumbled onto the parking lot. He was strapped into the car seat and does not appear to be hurt thankfully.

We installed the adapter and the car seat exactly as the instructions state. We called the manufacturer who confirmed that we installed it correctly.

The adapter broke where two pieces are joined together by a piece of red plastic. The piece of red plastic broke on both sides causing the adapter to break in two. I have the adapter and also have pictures.

This could have been a much bigger problem if my son was not as securely strapped into the car seat.

I would like to ensure that these adapters are strong enough to carry these car seats. My son is about 16 pounds and the car seat is a standard [REDACTED] brand car seat which is compatible with the adapter. The adapter was being used according to the manufacturer’s instructions and should not have broke.

Thanks for looking into this. I would be glad to provide additional details if you need them.
