First aid Made Oct 27, 2011, sent to the company Nov 4, 2011, published by CPSC Nov 21, 2011
The product, in the report: Bumbleride Indie all terrain jogging stroller (Information obtained from picture: DOM 07/07/11 S 0707115047, INDIE LAVA I-205L) SKU 812812010593
While taking a 9 month old (at time of accident) infant I nanny for a WALK in a Bumbleride Indie all terrain jogging stroller, the front wheel unexpectedly came off, causing the fork that holds the wheel to jam down into the pavement and the stroller rolled over and I tumbled over the stroller. The infant was strapped in and the seat had been lowered for him to nap. The stroller landed with the infant facing the ground, but, thankfully, he was unharmed since he was not in a sitting position. Had he been sitting upright, his face would have been smashed into the pavement. I was badly bruised and scraped on my shins, knees and elbows, and my left hand and fingers were deeply scraped and one finger jammed into the concrete. The nail is still bruised and the scrapes took over a month to heal and the finger is stiff. The frame of the stroller bent enough the wheel could not be replaced. After making an accident/damage report to the Bumbleride Company, they payed for the damaged stroller to be shipped to them and then they sent a new, replacement Indie stroller to my employers. However, I am still concerned about the front wheel latch design and worried other infants may also be at risk of injury. I will be very cautious using the new stroller and I would never buy one or suggest anyone else use one.
