I’m a father in his 30s, and I’m reporting an incident my family and I have been going through.
On Wednesday evening April 14 2021, around 5:40PM PST, I was running with the Bob double stroller (https://www.bobgear.com/revolution-flex-30-duallie-legacy) on the street around my home. I have been doing similar exercise for the past several months. Both of my children, a 4-year-old boy and a 1.5-year-old girl, were in the stroller with safety belts on.
When I was approaching home, the front wheel started to make some rapid click sounds. I applied the hand brake, hoping to slow down and check on the stroller. What I know next, was that the stroller COMPLETED ROLLED OVER, with the front wheel as the axis and entire stroller going up and front. This ends up with both kids hitting the ground, under the stroller, and me almost fell onto the stroller as well. The daughter was small enough and didn’t suffer severe injury, but still with areas of bruises and scratches on her face. The son had a helmet on, but that doesn’t help when your stroller fell this way. As a result, he had a big area of bruises on his jaw, and his top front tooth OFF right at the scene. I was very scared as I lifted and rotated the stroller, in the meantime hear both children crying at their loudest. When I saw my son, his mouth was full of blood and his tooth was gone. We end up visiting urgent care on that day, dentist on the day after. As a result of the dental visit, we had to go back to remove my son’s other top front tooth since the underlying bone was broken and the tooth is too loose to hold, due to this incident.
When we looked at the scroller, the front wheel turned out to be broken completely off at the axis. I do not understand why this happened. I was running at average speed of an average person.
