The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: 2013 BOB Motion Stroller

We have a 2013 BOB Motion stroller. We became aware of the previous recall of this product (Recall date: JANUARY 30, 2014 Recall number: 14-098) and called Britax to get replacement parts.

When we called Britax to get the replacement parts we also told the customer service representative that we had concerns about finger pinches and injuries in the canopy hinge area of the stroller. We noticed that our daughter liked to hold onto that area of the stroller, and that there was the possibility of her fingers getting caught between the hinges when the canopy is raised or lowered. The customer service representative was less than helpful and stated that it wasn’t possible because engineers had spent hundreds of hours reviewing the safety of the strollers. We replied that we felt it was definitely possible. Britax then decided to send us a new canopy for our stroller. However, this wasn’t necessary because the replacement part is exactly the same as the original part so the safety issue still existed.

We attempt to be very careful when raising and lowering the canopy, but today my daughters fingers did get caught in the hinge- exactly where we told Britax it was possible! Her left middle finger closest to her knuckles was indented severely and now her finger is swollen and will likely bruise. Thankfully, there were no lacerations.

Since we already attempted to get assistance with this issue from Britax and were unsuccessful, we hope that the CPSC will take action. If needed, we would be happy to provide further clarification. Thank you.
