First aid Made Sep 3, 2026, sent to the company Sep 9, 2026, published by CPSC Sep 23, 2026
The product, in the report: Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 All-Terrain Double Stroller, Forever Air Rubber Tires, All-Wheel Suspension, Twin Stroller with Belly Bar, Leatherette Handlebar, Premium Fabric, Amazon Exclusive Pike Color
What happened / description:
While traveling through the airport for an international flight, our Baby Jogger City Jogger double stroller catastrophically failed during normal use, between the TSA security checkpoint and our departure gate. A wheel detached from the frame, and internal structural components failed and came apart, causing the stroller to collapse.
Product type:
Baby Jogger double stroller, City Jogger model. Serial number 117U2600662. Manufacture date 3-14-2026. Purchased new via Amazon on 6-24-2026. This was the first time the stroller had ever been used.
Who was using it:
My 2-year-old daughter was seated in the stroller at the time of the failure. My 5.5-month-old was not in the stroller at that moment.
How it was being used:
The stroller was being used as intended, pushed through the airport in normal fashion, on flat, paved terminal flooring, with my toddler seated in it. No misuse, rough handling, or abnormal conditions were involved.
Injuries:
Yes. When the wheel detached and the stroller structure failed, my 2-year-old daughter fell as a result. She struck her head in the fall. She did not require emergency medical treatment and appeared to recover without lasting injury, but the fall and head strike were a direct and immediate result of the product structural failure.
How the injury occurred:
The sudden mechanical failure, wheel detachment combined with internal components breaking apart, caused the stroller to become unstable and collapse while my daughter was seated in it, with no warning and no misuse involved. She fell from the stroller as a direct result and struck her head on the ground.
Additional context:
Because the stroller was no longer safe or usable, and we were departing immediately for an international trip, the airline advised the stroller could not be retained and it was discarded at the gate. I have a timestamped photo taken shortly before the incident. I contacted the manufacturer, Baby Jogger, and provided all requested identifying information, including serial number, manufacture date, purchase details, and photo. Despite this, they declined to issue a refund or replacement, stating they could not evaluate the claim without physically inspecting the unit, and directed me to pursue the matter with the airline instead.

Emergency room Made Jul 14, 2022, sent to the company Jul 19, 2022, published by CPSC Aug 2, 2022
The product, in the report: Baby Jogger City Select Travel System
Our stroller collapsed. I took our Baby Jogger City Select stroller from my car trunk and unfolded it, locking it into place. My mother-in-law transferred the City GO carseat from the car to the stroller and locked it into place. We walked with the stroller for about a quarter of a mile when all of a sudden the stroller collapsed, the carseat flipped over and my 2 month old daughter fell out of the stroller, hitting the pavement head first, face down. We called 911 and went to the emergency room. She had a gash on her forehead with deep cuts on her nose and an entire side of her face was scraped and bloody. She most likely suffered a concussion as well.

The product, in the report: Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Double Stroller, Slate Model 2104206 UPC PD349325A
I am furious while writing this. I have the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Double Stroller, Slate. We purchased this stroller October 2020. I have a 14 month old daughter and a two month old son. I did my research and wanted to get the best, SAFEST stroller for my babies. Upon getting the stroller, I found out that my car seat did not fit into the stroller, but I loved the stroller so much that I went out and purchased a brand new car seat that would work and that was safe. I purchased numerous parts only for the parts to come and find out they didn’t fit my new model of the double stroller. After a long hall, I purchased the [REDACTED] car seat, which then led me to purchase the car seat adapter. I also purchased 2 child’s trays, a belly bar double and a parent console. Needless to say, I am well at a $1000 mark with all of the accessories etc. Still, I was happy to do it to have one of the best strollers for the kids. It wasn’t until today that I found out how DANGEROUS this stroller is. Walking home from a neighbors house with both babies, my 14 month old started crying. I had the flap open on top and I looked down and thought she was just laying back. I figured she was fussing because she was tired. She started screaming. I then stopped immediately, went to get her out and realized her head was stuck, wedged in between the bar in the middle of the stroller and the seat. I HAD TO PRY MY CHILDS HEAD FROM THE BAR! This is unacceptable and I am mortified. I cannot believe, after all of the headaches of purchasing MULTIPLE things to make this stroller what I need it to be, it turns out it’s not safe at all.

No one hurt Made Sep 19, 2020, sent to the company Dec 3, 2020, published by CPSC Dec 17, 2020
The product, in the report: This is a baby jogger/city select lux stroller Model 2008334
The baby jogger/city select lux and many of baby joggers other strollers have a dangerous issue where the front wheels will begin to destabilize and wobble uncontrollably. This is known to happen both with new stroller and those that have been used for a while. The company is aware of the issue, there are hundreds of owner that have posted about the issue (just [REDACTED]”city select or baby jogger wheel wobble”).
This caused me to lose control of the stroller and consequently walk the stroller off the sidewalk into the grass, luckily the baby was strapped in and she did not fall out.
Baby jogger refuses to fix the issue, instead asking the consumer to purchase two new wheels at $110+.
An example link w/the issue is here and I can also provide video:

No one hurt Made Jul 30, 2018, sent to the company Aug 8, 2018, published by CPSC Aug 22, 2018
The product, in the report: http://www.babyjogger.com/en-US/city-mini®-double Stroller Weight 28.6 lb Stroller Height 41.5 in
I had a BabyJogger City Mini double stroller, and only after a few months of gentle use, one of the buttons came off in the middle of the stroller, leaving a very sharp fastener within reach of my babies’ hands. I noticed it after a shopping trip to Target, but it is unclear when and how the button came off. The issue occurred the end of June. My concern would be that if the button easily comes off then it could present a choking hazard. After a potential choking hazard, the sharp fastener itself presents danger of cutting a child and possibly then needing a tetanus shot.
After contacting the company, BabyJogger, several times via their website, email, and phone, a month later (today) they sent replacement fabric. Multiple customer service reps did not seem concerned that this could injure a child. I queried their Customer Service rep via email on July 13 whether they would report this defect the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. I never received a response regarding that query.

No one hurt Made May 24, 2018, sent to the company Jun 4, 2018, published by CPSC Jun 18, 2018
The product, in the report: 2015 Baby Jogger Summit X3 Double Stroller, in green/grey. It is a hybrid jogging stroller that can fold itself.
I was jogging with my two children who were seated in Baby Jogger Summit X3 Double Stroller. During mid-run, the frame of the stroller nearly folded/gave out. I checked to make sure the stroller had been set/clicked correctly and it had been. The occurrence kept happening again, however, and I had to cut my run short and return home. My children did not sustain any injuries - they were just stunned by the sudden jolt from the stroller’s frame giving out, which almost forced their seat to recline suddenly. I see this as something that could potentially cause serious injuries, especially if this were to happen mid-run, especially going down/uphill. I did not have anything in the stroller other than my cellphone and a light blanket to cover my children.

The product, in the report: Baby Jogger City Select
We purchased a Baby Jogger City Select stroller in August 2013 and within six months we began noticing a violent shaking of the front wheels intermittently while pushing the stroller. Over the past few months the shaking has become constant and is worse the faster you push the stroller. It’s quite dangerous now crossing an intersection. I submitted this information to the company and never heard back from them. There are dozens of other similar complaints on the reviews of this product on the companies website. There is a video of the issue on YouTube.

The product, in the report: Baby Jogger City Select Stroller
I am writing to inform you of an injury caused by the 2013 Baby Jogger City Select stroller. Upon getting the stroller from the trunk of my car, my finger was severely cut when it was pinched in the hinge while unfolding the stroller. The cut was very deep and painful and took weeks to heal.
I love the City Select stroller but am concerned about safety. If this could happen to me, it could happen to others as well.

Emergency room Made Aug 16, 2014, sent to the company Aug 25, 2014, published by CPSC Sep 9, 2014
The product, in the report: Baby Jogger car seat adaptor for single strollers and the Baby Jogger City Mini GT single stroller, black.
I am writing to make you aware of a malfunction in the Baby Jogger car seat adaptor for its City Mini GT single stroller. I purchased the single car seat adapter from Babies R Us in Madison, Wisconsin in May 2014 so I could use my [REDACTED] with the City Mini GT stroller. Our baby was born in June 2014. In July 2014 my husband and I placed the adapter in the stroller and then placed the car seat in the adapter to go for a walk with our four week old. We had used the car seat with the stroller several times since our daughter’s birth without incident.
Approximately 50 feet from our apartment the adapter and car seat fell off the stroller (the adapter was still attached to the stroller), hit the concrete pavement, and completely rolled over. Our newborn received scraps to her head and we spent the day in the emergency room so she could be observed to rule out head injury.
We are obviously never going to use the adapter again and believe you should be aware of the malfunction. We believe the adapter was securely placed in the stroller and that the gray buttons on the side had “clicked.” As you will see from the attached photos, their is a piece of elastic cloth that partially covers both holes where the adapter is supposed to click in so that you hear and see a click but in fact the cloth is preventing the adapter from being fully secure. The photos even show an indentation where the adapter pressed against the cloth thereby preventing it from securing. The instruction manual makes no mention of needing to move the elastic to have the adapter fit securely.
We feel the most important thing is for you to be aware of the malfunction so that no other babies get hurt or end up in the emergency room.

The product, in the report: This is the adaptor sold by Baby Jogger to accommodate the addition of the Chicco KeyFit 30 car seat. This is the replacement version to the recalled product - BJ90121. I believe that the new product number is BJ90123.
The adaptor connecting my Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller to my Chicco KeyFit 30 broke; if I had not noticed, it would have allowed the car seat to fall from the stroller, potentially injuring my baby. There is an existing recall for product BJ90121. The adaptor that I have is NOT this product - it is the newer product, with four holes instead of 10. The failure method seems to be the same - it broke at the green button that locks it in to the other half of the adaptor.

No one hurt Made Dec 8, 2013, sent to the company Dec 16, 2013, published by CPSC Dec 31, 2013
The product, in the report: The product is a Car Seat Adaptor for Single Strollers. It is manufactured by Baby Jogger. The model number is BJ90123. It is a newer model of a product from the same manufacturer that was recalled on August 28, 2013 (Model number BJ90121, CPSC recall number 13-272).
The product is a Car Seat Adaptor for Single Strollers. It is manufactured by Baby Jogger. The model number is BJ90123. It is a newer model of a product from the same manufacturer that was recalled on August 28, 2013 (Model number BJ90121, CPSC recall number 13-272). Though at the time of that recall, it was noted that “Newer models have only four holes and are not being recalled,” in my case the newer model has the same flaw & weakness and therefore carries the same risk.
The car seat adaptor consists of two U-shaped, black, aluminum support bars and two black plastic adaptors that allow the support bars to attach onto the stroller. The black support bars are labeled A and B. The A support bar is the larger of the two U-shaped bars and has a red plastic tip with 4 holes.
One of the red plastic tips cracked and broke, rendering the adaptor useless. This crack & break happened during first-time assembly, within minutes of removing the product’s parts from their original packaging. The only pressure applied to the U-shaped bars was the pressure required to assemble the product itself. Specifically, the product cracked & broke when I was trying to connect support bar A and support bar B through the two black plastic adaptors. When pushing the right side in (so that the green button clicks), the red plastic tip on the left side cracked & broke.
The U-shaped bar cracked & broke prior to actually using the fully assembled product for its intended purpose. There were no injuries in this instance but the risk certainly existed had it been installed on the stroller.

The product, in the report: Baby Jogger Summit X3 Single jogging stroller
Over the course of several weeks we experienced that the parking brake on our Baby Jogger Summit X3 stroller became difficult to engage and would not consistently engage and stay engaged. Typically this would occur while we were walking around our neighborhood with our baby in the stroller. At various points during our walk we might stop and want to engage the parking brake to prevent the stroller from moving. Over time it became a more and more frequent occurrence that we could not get the parking brake to lock into the engaged position no matter how hard we pressed on the brake lever. Sometimes the brake would seem to engage, but after about a minute we would notice it had disengaged and the lever had returned to the disengaged position. Fortunately there was never an occasion when the stroller rolled away because of this.
When the problem became frequent enough that it affected our ability to use the stroller we filed a warranty claim with Baby Jogger. At this time a close inspection of the parking brake mechanism revealed that one of the metal rods that slides outward as the brake is engaged was stuck. As the brake lever was pressed the stuck rod would cause the plastic of the brake lever to deform. Also, a plastic piece located adjacent to the brake lever that the metal rod is supposed to slide through would be twisted outward as the brake lever was pressed. The shape of the plastic of the brake lever was such that the pressure of the stuck metal rod would cause the brake lever to gradually spring back to the disengaged position.
Baby Jogger replaced the stroller frame under warranty.

The product, in the report: Baby Jogger Car Seat Adaptor Single for City Select/City Versa
City Select Stroller Adapter (for Car seat)-baby Jogger Company Yesterday while on a walk, the adapter on my City Select Stroller snapped in half without warning. Luckily, my baby was strapped securely into her car seat and had the City Select belt over her. She fell into the under bag storage area of the stroller and the car seat was about to topple onto the street, but I caught the car seat in time. Luckily, she was not harmed and is perfectly fine, but I was frazzled. She is only 12 lbs. so I know I wasn’t exceeding a weight limit. The item was recently purchased at a reputable store too. When I got home I contacted Baby Jogger who makes the product and they stood by their item, claimed it must have been installed incorrectly or was a fluke. (I sent in pictures of the broken adapter and the engineers looked at the broken item.) They did say they could replace the adapter. When I looked on Amazon, I found that a couple other people had the same problem. I am shocked this item has not been recalled.

The product, in the report: An adapter that is connected to a stroller to allow a carseat to be carried on the stroller.
The Baby Jogger adapter for using Chicco carseats on their City Select and Versa strollers tilts the carseat forward at an angle that is potentially hazardous to the baby’s airway and breathing capacity.
We bought the adapter to use our Chicco Keyfit 30 carseat with our Baby Jogger City Select stroller. The next day after receiving it, we happened to be at our then 4-month-old daughter’s pediatrician’s office. I asked her for her opinion of the forward-tilting angle of the carseat when installed in the adapter. She said it was too far forward and that she would recommend not using it for anything longer than “short, quick trips” because the baby’s head would be on his or her chest, which isn’t helpful to their airway and breathing.
I contacted Baby Jogger customer service to let them know what the pediatrician said and to see if they had a solution for the forward tilt of the adapter. They asked me to send photographs of my stroller with the adapter and with the adapter and carseat installed so they could pass them along to their product team to make sure I had the adapter installed correctly. I followed up with the customer service rep a week later and she emailed me the following:
“Hello [REDACTED],
I am so sorry for the delay in getting back in touch with you. It typically will not take so long for that answer. I just received the “verdict” from our Product Team this afternoon. After examining the photos and completing the installation with items at our office, your car seat appears to be properly installed. They noted that the car seat will be slightly upright in the adaptor (this is normal). They could confirm in the photos that you sent that the line on the side of the car seat was correctly aligned with the adaptor (and matched our in-office installation).
Everything appears to be correct with your adaptor and car seat installation. Please reply to this email with any questions or concerns. Thank you and have a wonderful evening!”
So, the company’s product team is aware that the adapter tilts the carseat forward. I returned the adapter and bought one for my [REDACTED] stroller, and the difference in the angles is remarkable. The adapter for the [REDACTED] stroller puts the carseat at a level angle, no forward tilt at all.

The product, in the report: Baby jogger city select car seat adaptor ( universal)
My infant was riding in his car seat in the baby jogger city select stroller using the correct car seat adaptor. We were crossing the street and the seat was all the sudden dangling by the front clasps and strap on seat belt. The adaptor broke in half.
