The product, in the report: The 3-Stage SuperSeat, support seat with activity tray

MY 8 month old daughter was sitting in the Summer Infant 3-Stage SuperSeat, a support seat with a activity tray. I rotated the tray so she could reach the toys and her finger was pinched between the seat and the tray. Her finger was not severely injured, only a little bruised. There are no warnings on the seat or in the instructions that advise against rotating the tray while child is in the seat.

The product, in the report: Summer Super Seat

My 4 month old son was sitting in the seat with the rotating tray attached. My 17 month old came up to him and rotated the tray and my 4 month old son’s left arm was caught behind the ladybug toy located on the rotating tray and it was hyper extended back. He screamed and would not move his left arm. We rushed him to the hospital and they told us he dislocated his elbow. He now has something that is called nursemaid elbow, where his left elbow can become dislocated at any time and we have to be extra careful not to pull his left arm. The doctor said they never seen a case where the child was so small. I think that is product is a hazard. The product says to NEVER LEAVE A CHILD UNATTENDED! and I did not. I was there and he was still hurt. I do not think this product is for infants 4 months old and up as the product states. The product should change the age of the user to 8 months or older when the infant has more control of his arms.

The product, in the report: Summer Infant 3-Stage Super Seat From Manufacturer: “The 3-Stage Super Seat from Summer Infant offers 360 degrees of floor time activity fun & booster in one. It’s a secure and comfortable area for your growing infant to learn to sit up and interact with their environment around them. With the Summer Infant 3-Stage Super Seat your baby can experience play while also sitting up. It’s the ideal place to keep baby entertained, safe and happy! “

Summer Infant 3-Stage Super Seat Model 13094

I just wanted to share a word of caution from what we experienced with our child. She was playing with the ladybug/mirror part and when you spin it around because it’s not a globe it leaves a gap underneath it when it’s vertical. Well she spun it and had her fingers on the holder. As she spun it down her fingers became wedged between the ladybug and the holder. She didn’t appear to be in any pain but we had to very carefully rock the ladybug back and forth until we could slide her fingers out. We quickly realized that if you tried to rock it too quickly you could easily squish, maybe break her fingers. All was okay in the end but we will not let her play with that one toy anymore.
