The product, in the report: Description from Amazon : Wooden Baby Playpen with Door Large Playpen for Kids Playpen Play Fence fo Babies Toddlers Indoor Kids Safey. the measurement listed is 55.11x78.74x24inches. It’s advertised under the brand ChubanCraft Store. I purchased it for approx $159.00. It’s advertised as being made of high quality New Zealand pine wood and the description states that its safe and environmentally friendly so you can safely put your children into the enclosure for play.
My son just turned 1 year old (8/28)and we were shocked to find out he tested positive for lead exposure. We were swabbing items around the home to test for lead prior to having the health department also come out and help figure out the source and swabbed an unpainted wooden playpen (today 9/5) that we purchased off of Amazon in April. The swab turned bright purple for lead positive. Just in case it was environmental, I wet cleaned the railings of the playpen and let them dry before testing again (and again) and still lead positive.
My son spends a great deal of his time in that playpen during the day and has chewed on the rail (which is what did test positive) so we believe his exposure came from this item. Now my son is lead positive and we have to monitor for any additional health aspects that come along with this. We purchased the playpen in at the end of April and he’s been using it daily since APril 24.
I did report the lead positive test to Amazon via their customer service feature, but they didn’t indicate that they cared. I also reported it to our health district who will also be coming out in the next week or two to test the playpen again for their records.
