My son is 15 months old. He has used LUVs diapers for months now. He started to develop a large burn on his inner thigh in January of 2020 which has now left a scar. Before he developed that he has numerous small rashes and one or two chemical burns randomly before that. After doing some research I discovered he wasn’t the only one who developed these same reactions randomly and another infant had the exact same burn on the exact same spot wearing the exact same diaper brand and size. One thing a mother should not be concerned of with their infant is the diaper he/she is wearing. I have images for proof. Warm regards-a concerned mother

The product, in the report: Luvs brand diapers

We have noticed several times our child having what appear to be chemical burns in her genital area, after a diaper change.

We thought it was due to being wet too long. After an aggressive routines and research we have noticed many online complaints dating back to 2010 with similar issues.

The Luvs diapers appear to be cause of bleeding burns.

Twice now that I have used these Luv’s diapers they break out on the sides. My daughter only naps for 3 hours and gets a diaper change before her nap. Both times, she has woken up with the inside of diaper everywhere in her bed and all over her. Today, it busted on the side and she woke up, started playing in it, and when she started making noise so that I knew she wasn’t sleeping, I went in there to find her eating the gel from the inside of the diaper. I have a picture of part of the pile that was left in my daughters crib.

I went on the Luv’s Facebook page and there are dozens of complaints about the diaper doing this and Luv’s will give back money if people send certain things in. I’m obviously not the only person having this issue with the diapers and if babies are going to eat what comes from inside the diaper, something needs to be done for the safety of children.

The product, in the report: Super Absobant Leakgaurd Diapers Pack of 92 Size: 3

The consumer stated that she put on a diaper on her 7 months old son at night. The consumer woke up in the morning when she heard her son move around. The consumer went to look over and saw that the diaper had exploded (came apart from the seam) and all the clear, gel bead content came out everywhere.

The consumer stated that her son put the gel bead content in his mouth. The consumer was concerned about her son choking on the gel beads. She put her finger in his mouth and took out as many beads as possible. The consumer contacted the poison control and they informed her that the gel was made from plant extract and so it was non-toxic.

The consumer cleaned up her son and put on another diaper from the same package. The consumer stated that the diaper was on for about 2 hours when the same thing happened again. The diaper came apart from the seam and all the gel beads came out. The consumer noticed it quickly and was able to avoid her son putting the beads in his mouth.

The consumer stated that the front seam came apart on both of exploded diapers.

The consumer stated that her son received an allergic reaction from the gel content. On the day of the incident, the consumer noticed many red dots on his skin where the gel beads touched him. The consumer stated that the reaction progressed over time and by today the dots turned into puss filled blisters. The consumer stated that there are at least 200 blisters over his skin. She has an appointment with a pediatrician today (06/15/15).

The consumer has the two diapers that came apart along with the other unused diapers from the package.

The consumer has some additional information regarding the report she made on June 15 2015. The report number is : 20150615-C6992-140781. The consumer did take her son to his pediatrician on June 15 2015 @ 1:10pm due to the concerns regarding the gel content of the diaper explosion and the affects on his skin and other issues regarding the diaper explosion. His pediatrician did diagnose him as having an allergic reaction to the gel content, along with a possible ear infection due to gel content in his right ear. The pediatrician prescribed antibiotics for his ear and [REDACTED] cream for the skin reaction and also suppositories for him for the inability to have a normal bowel movement also due to the swallowing of the diapers gel content. If there isn’t improvement with her son by Wednesday June 17 2015 the consumer is to call and get him seen again by his pediatrician.

The consumer also would like to inform you that she did call the diaper’s manufacturer which is P&G to inform them of the incident. The consumer made the call at 8:17am on June 16 2015. They listened to her concern and asked that she hold onto 2 of the unused diapers from the pack in case their quality control department were to want them. They apologized for the incident and hoped her son would feel better soon. They are also going to send the consumer an $8.00 off coupon for my next package of LUVS diapers. Which she will not be using the consumer has switched to a brand of diapers that does not have any gel content for the safety of her son. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me by e-mail or by phone at [REDACTED]. Thank you so much and have a great day.

The product, in the report: Baby Diapers.

I purchased a big box of Luvs diapers( ultra leakguard) for my son who is 3 weeks old and I was hoping that it “ helps lock wetness away” as mentioned on the box but actually it caused sever rash, pimples and burns to my infants’ skin. I used an ointment for diaper rashes to calm him down but did not help at all and the diaper area gets worst everyday. I am going to see a doctor trying to find something to help my baby who screams a lot from pain.

The product, in the report: diapers

We recently used Luvs on both our 3 month old and our 2 year old and they both broke out in a severe diaper rash almost like a burn. My son the 2 yr old woke up in the middle of the night and was in so much pain we had to put him in the tub to soak and give him medication for the pain. We discontinued use of them and used max strength [REDACTED] and it did clear it up in about 4 days. Our daughters rash was not as bad but we discontinued use.

We didnt think too much about it until 2 of our friends said they also had similar problem. i will not purchase this product again but i am concerned that there might be something in their product that is harmful to children.

The product, in the report: Luvs Ultra Leakguards diapers size 4

A year ago my daughter suffered from the worst “diaper rash” I’ve ever seen and there is no doubt in any of our minds that her pampers cruisers are what caused it. I won’t even call it a diaper rash because that doesn’t possibly convey it’s severity. This is my 3rd child so trust me when I say I’ve spent 7 years of my life changing lots of diapers. I was pampers swaddlers and cruisers biggest fan until last May when this happened. I switched to [REDACTED] and the “rash” cleared up quickly. Fast forward to one year later and my husband bought our daughter a package of Luvs. A “rash” appeared almost instantly. We couldn’t figure out why because even though it presented just like the way she reacted to pampers, we knew none of them had touched her. After some research, I became aware of the fact that Luvs and Pampers are both made by Procter & Gamble. I also found a large number of other parents complaining of Luvs now causing their babies a “rash” exactly like pampers had caused. Luvs are now very thin, a purple hue, and the chemical odor is awful. I don’t need anyone to confirm that P & G is now using the dry max materials in Luvs now. You should be ready for thousands more complaints and shame on you, CPSC, for “finding no link” between 5000 complaints in 2 months of severe diaper rash with pampers diapers being what they all had in common. YOU, not even P & G, should shoulder the blame of letting this continue. Allow me to send you a picture of my child’s rash. I don’t have a lawyer, I don’t want my money back, and please don’t send me the robotic message you’ve sent everyone else who has complained. Your actions most certainly prove you are not sorry my child has a rash and I have no desire to call and tell you my “unique” experience. I now know not to buy pampers or Luvs. But CPSC, you are allowing this to keep happening so I’ll have to keep vigilant myself for any rash that appears on my my daughter from a diaper. Because you most certainly are not going to keep her from harm.
