No one hurt Made Jun 1, 2017, sent to the company Jun 9, 2017, published by CPSC Jun 30, 2017
The product, in the report: Tommee Tippee’s Closer to Nature Electric Bottle and Food Warmer heats bottles and baby food quickly and safely in about 4 minutes. The warmer heats everything from breast milk to baby food while helping to preserve the nutrients that are vital to your baby’s healthy development. Just place the bottle or jar in the warmer and adjust the easy to use temperature dial.
On 5/31/17, my tommee tippee bottle warmer caught fire and destroyed my kitchen cabinets. I purchased the starter kit from Amazon in October 2014 and I didn’t have my daughter until January 2015. I breastfed my daughter for the first 9 months so I rarely used the bottle warmer. Typically we use the bottle warmer to warm my toddlers whole milk for breakfast and at bedtime. I left my home at 7:10 am to take my daughter to day care and the alarm company called me at 7:52 am to report the smoke detectors were going off. The alarm company dispatched the fire department who arrived at my home at approximately 8:03am and began to put out the fire. Fortunately the damage was contained to the cabinet and it could have been worse if my smoke detectors were not working. I filed a claim with my homeowners insurance so we can repair my kitchen and clean all the soot that is all over my home. With me being 8 months pregnant and having a toddler my family is staying in a hotel until the house is safe and clean for us to return. I definitely will not be buying tommee tippee products for this baby and I’m very disappointed and [angry]. After the fire I notice the fire recall and wonder why there wasn’t news coverage to alert parents of the recall.

Emergency room Made Oct 23, 2014, sent to the company Oct 31, 2014, published by CPSC Nov 26, 2014
The product, in the report: Tommee Tipper bottle warmer, white
I was using a tommee tipper bottle warmer for my newborn I pulled the bottle out to feed him and didn’t unplug it immediately but about 5 minutes later while I was feeding him my daughter reached up on the counter and knocked it over. It gave her second degree burns through her clothes on her chest. We had to go to the emergency room. The warmer was only on for about 10 minutes total and was up high on the counter. The water was so hot my husband watched her skin peel it was horrific. If the bottle warmer had an automatic shutoff like other products of its kind or had a max temperature that wasn’t that hot this accident could have been prevented or not been as severe.

No one hurt Made Jun 25, 2011, published by CPSC Jul 19, 2011
The product, in the report: Tommee Tippee electric bottle warmer
The Tommee Tippee bottle warmer does not automatically shut off. I believe this can be a fire hazard. We went for a walk and around an hour later the warmer was still running and was without water at this time due to it being evaporated.
