I am a District Coordinator for Georgia’s Healthy Homes and Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. During a home assessment for a child who has tested above the current BLRV established by the CDC, I tested an insulated water bottle/tumbler with my XRF device that the child used frequently. The item consistently tested positive for lead on the bottom. It is important to note, however, that toward the end of the assessment, the batteries of my XRF malfunctioned and I was unable to calibrate out.
