The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Dr Brown’s natural flow anti colic nipple six pack medium flow level 2

We found manufacturing debris (silicone chunks) in a bottle nipple that our baby could have ingested. We were preparing a new nipple for a bottle when we found the debris. It is a Dr Brown’s anti-colic nipple medium flow level 2. Only one or the six nipples in the box had debris inside of it. The code on the bottom of the box is 14081826HC No. SN261. We have set aside the box, nipple, and debris.

The product, in the report: Dr Browns Natural flow bottles with Options Green vent for colic and Reflux

Purchased x6 Natural flow Dr Browns bottles with green vents to help with Colic and Reflux. Started to use these bottles as heard they are very good but after about a week the vents that are made of rubber had started to not sit right into the long plastic vent possibly due to sterilising them but obviously I have to do this as my baby is very young. He has severe Reflux so we spent lots buying these to try and help him have a better feed but the bottles started to become unsafe and would be ok for about 5 minutes into the feed then they’d just explode with milk because the vents had come apart inside the bottle and the milk saturated my baby I had so many times he got soaked with anlot of milk not a drip it was lots and he would get very distressed and cry because he was wet, and because we would have to then change all his clothes and go and make a new bottle. Often this happened during the night can you You imagine how upsetting this was for our new baby and for us. I got on to Dr Browns Uk but was told they are only a supplier so couldn’t look into it as a safety recall but told me the manufacturers are in the USA so I’m asking you to please look into this matter as an urgent safety recall. I believe Dr Browns know there’s a fault as the lady on the phone in the UK said she would send me out new vents that she guaranteed won’t leak so that’s almost admitting there’s a known error, why have Dr Browns not re [REDACTED] these? It’s irrisponsible of them to allow small babies to get soaked after feeds with these green vents in the bottles. These bottles need recalling and a refund offered.

The product, in the report: Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow 19pc Feeding and Bottle Set

I used a cleaning brush to clean baby bottles (Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow 19pc Feeding and Bottle Set) under tap water. The iron wire of the brush scratched one of my finger and it started bleeding.

The product, in the report: Dr. Brown #2 Nipple (used on a baby bottle)

4 month old infant with recurrent tongue bruising while using Dr. Brown’s #2 nipple. Infant thoroughly evaluated for abuse and any bleeding disorder (including multiple radiographs and blood/urine tests). Abuse and bleeding disorders have been ruled out as causes. As a consultant on the case, I do not know at this point if the recurrent tongue bruising is due to something unique about the infant (sucking dynamics or overly vigorous sucking) or is due to something wrong with the nipple. The nipple does not appear to be defective or worn out (no sign of wear). I cannot find any cases in the medical literature noting tongue bruising from innocent means such as taking a bottle, however there are multiple reports in the lay media on-line. The family has now switched nipple brands and size, and so far, the bruising has not recurred. While bruising ofthe tip ofthe tongue might seem to be a trivial injury, it is not; an isolated, unexplained bruise in an infant who is not yet able to pull to a stand and take some steps is worrisome for abuse. It often will prompt a full work-up and investigation for abuse including head a, multiple X-rays of the bones (skeletal survey and repeat skeletal survey 2 weeks later) as well as blood and urine tests. In addition, the family is put through a child abuse investigation that can involve child protective services and police. I plan to submit this case for publication in a medical journal as doing so might save other children and their families from this experience.

The product, in the report: Dr. Brown’s 8oz glass baby bottle

I have been using Dr. Brown’s brand glass 8 oz baby bottles for my son. Last night his bottle bumped into a cup sitting next to us as I was feeding him. It was a gentle bump, definitely something to be expected with normal use, not a dropped bottle or a hard tap or anything of that nature. The bottom of the bottle broke off. My 5 month old son’s finger was sliced open. It was a bad enough gash that we almost took him to the ER but ultimately decided that it was not necessary. This injury was caused by a product that had been appropriately cared for and was being used under normal circumstances.
