The product, in the report: White strap with adhesive and plastic hook. Designed to prevent babies from entering room. DoorBuddy.com is product website. Purchased on Amazon.com
The product “Door Buddy” (www.thedoorbuddy.com) is marketed as a product to allow parents to leave doors open for animals but prevent babies/toddlers from entering the room.
I ordered the product via Amazon twice -- Once on September 20th and another on September 25th, 2017.
After installing the product on both the bathroom door and the pantry, the product appeared to work as intended.
However, less than 6 months after installation, my 13-month old (average height, weight, strength) just pushed the door open -- breaking the plastic hinge of the Door Buddy product in catastrophic failure. The broken hinge was about 1inch long and a centimeter in diameter, creating a serious chocking hazard. Thankfully, I was nearby and able to prevent him from choking.
