First aid Made Apr 8, 2015, sent to the company Apr 15, 2015, published by CPSC May 13, 2015
The product, in the report: Babie R Us brand Secure Stairway Gate White color
We had the Babies R Us Brand Secure Stairway Gate installed at the top of our stairs for approximately 9 months without any issues. Then, on March 15th, my 16 month old baby pushed the door of the gate (while it was closed and locked in place), it then flung open and my baby triple summersaulted down the stairs with serious momentum. Luckily he only sustained 2 rug burns on his face but this obviously could have been much worse and I want to prevent this from happening to any other baby!

No one hurt Made Oct 6, 2014, sent to the company Oct 15, 2014, published by CPSC Oct 29, 2014
The product, in the report: Safety gate
The Babies R Us Play Yard (free standing gate) creates small, spiral-shaped fine plastic shavings as the gate is folded and unfolded. The joints where the gate panels connect grind against each other as it is moved, and plastic shavings are produced which fall out. These are very fine and appear in and around the gate, easily picked up by babies and children and are a major choking hazard. My 6 month old daughter had picked one up and started to put it in her mouth before we luckily caught it and found several other shavings. We cleaned them all up, thinking maybe they were just due to packaging, but saw that the gate continued to produce new shavings as we moved it around and folded/unfolded it.
