The product, in the report: The item is a baby gate Babelio CB-M-101 color white purchased from Amazon. The dimensions are 43”W X 30” H. It’s made from Metal.

On Friday 3/20/2026 my son tried shutting the Babelio Safety gate we have to control the steps and the gate’s locking mechanism didn’t latch, the momentum of this caused him to follow the gate and fall down the stairs. We took him to urgent care to be looked at and he was okay.

The product, in the report: Babelio 26-43” No Bottom Bar Baby Gate for Babies, Elders and Pets, 2-in-1 Hardware Mount Dog Gate for The House, Stairs and Doorways, Safety Pet Gates with Large Walk Thru Door, White

I bought an expensive baby gate from Amazon in January 2024. It was manufactured by Babelio. I had it professionally installed. However, after a few months we noticed that the latch on the gate had a manufacturing flaw that prevented it from staying closed. The gate makes a clicking sound indicating that the gate latch at the top has closed, but there is no actual latch inside the handle. With some movement, it slides open because it is not actually closing. There is no mechanism for the gate itself to close. I complained to Amazon, and to Babelio. When the former would not respond, I went to the [REDACTED]. When the latter would not respond, even when I sent a video of the safety issue, I sought out saferproducts.gov

The product, in the report: Babelio 34” Extra Tall Baby/Dog Gate with No Threshold Design Walk Thru Door, 26-43” Auto Close Safety Gate for Babies, Elders and Pets, Fits Doorways, Stairs, and Entryways, White - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BXCLJJP8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

I just purchased a baby gate for the top of my stairs from Amazon. Upon installation, the plastic hinge snapped right off and the gate toppled forward. It was not latched and I didn’t apply any pressure, was merely holding it against the wall to mark where the pilot holes should go. It’s terrifying to consider what might have happened if I had installed it and my 9-month-old leaned against it at the top of a wooden staircase.
